There's a particular kind of light that arrives in September — softer, lower in the sky, gilding everything it touches before it lets go. On the 22nd, the equinox brings us to a perfect standstill: equal day, equal night, the whole year balanced on a single point before it tips toward the dark.
We think there's something for all of us in that pause, whether you are in perimenopause or menopause, this season can feel like a mirror. Not a decline — a turning. The same quiet recalibration the earth is doing: releasing what's spent, gathering in what still nourishes, finding a new equilibrium between light and dark, doing and resting. Nature doesn't rush the harvest, and it doesn't apologise for the fallow months either. Both are the work.
So as we step into September, here's what we're setting our intentions around:
Harvest what's ready. Taking stock of what this year has actually grown in you — the strength, the clarity, the boundaries — before rushing on to what's next.
Let something fall. Like the leaves, not everything needs to be carried into the next season. What are you ready to release — a habit, an expectation of yourself, an old idea of what your body "should" be doing?
Find your equinox. Where in your life is the balance tipped too far one way? This month, look for the small adjustments — rest, nourishment, movement, support — that bring you back to your own equal point.
Trust the turning, not the rushing. The geese don't fly south overnight. Let your own transitions — hormonal, seasonal, emotional — move at their true pace, not the one the calendar demands.
Your body isn't malfunctioning. It's changing seasons — same as everything else in nature rightt now. Our job, and ours at Adaptogenic Apothecary, is simply to walk alongside that shift with the plants that have supported women through it for centuries.
