💭 One Thing I've Noticed Recently...

Many people don't come to see me because they're in severe pain.

They come because they're exhausted.

Exhausted from:

• Constantly feeling tense • Never switching off • Waking up tired • Carrying stress in their shoulders • Feeling overwhelmed by everyday life

Some tell me:

"I don't know what's wrong with me... I just don't feel like myself."

Pain isn't always the problem.

Sometimes it's the symptom.

The body has an incredible way of adapting to stress, pressure and busy lifestyles.

But eventually it starts asking for attention.

Often through: ⚡ Tension ⚡ Fatigue ⚡ Poor sleep ⚡ Headaches ⚡ A feeling of being stuck

Sometimes the most important thing we can do is listen.

💭 The Body Keeps Score

One of the biggest misconceptions I see is that stress only affects the mind.

In reality, the body keeps score.

Sometimes it shows up as:

• Tight shoulders • Neck tension • Jaw clenching • Headaches • Poor sleep • Fatigue • Shallow breathing • A feeling that you can never fully switch off

Many people become so used to carrying tension that it starts to feel normal.

Until one day it doesn't.

The body is incredibly good at adapting, but adaptation isn't always the same as health.

A little bit different from the usual Lancashire Bowen Therapy posts today... 🏍️

Many of you know me as a Bowen Therapist, but not many know that I've always had a love of motorbikes.

Today was a special day.

For the first time in around 30 years, my dad and I went out for a ride together.

Life has a habit of getting busy. Years pass, families grow, work takes over and before you know it, decades have gone by.

So today wasn't really about the bikes.

It was about spending time together, making memories and appreciating moments that often get taken for granted.

As therapists, we're always reminding people to slow down, breathe and look after themselves.

Perhaps we should all take our own advice occasionally.

Healing isn’t always fast.

And progress isn’t always obvious.

Sometimes it’s: • Sleeping a little better
• Turning your neck further than last week
• Having one less headache
• Feeling calmer in yourself
• Getting through the day with less pain

Small progress is still progress.

Your body doesn’t need perfection overnight…

It just needs the chance to keep moving in the right direction. 🌿

Be patient with yourself.

☀️ The warmer weather is finally arriving across the UK this week… but many people don’t realise heat can also increase feelings of fatigue, tension and irritability.
When the body becomes dehydrated or stressed by heat, muscles can tighten, sleep can suffer and the nervous system can become overloaded more easily.
A few simple reminders this week:
💧 Drink more water than you think you need
🌿 Slow down where possible
😴 Prioritise sleep and recovery
🫁 Focus on deeper breathing
☀️ Take regular breaks from the heat
Your body works hard to keep everything balanced during warmer weather.
Sometimes the best thing we can do is simply give it chance to reset.
Stay cool and look after yourselves this week 💚

Good morning 🌿

A lot of people spend their lives waiting for someone else to motivate them…

Waiting for: • The right moment
• More confidence
• Permission
• A sign to start looking after themselves properly

But sometimes the biggest changes happen when you realise:

You already have what you need inside you.

Your body has an incredible ability to adapt, recover and heal…

When you finally start listening to it instead of fighting against it.

Take care of yourself today.

Not just when things get bad. ❤️

Messages like this are the reason I love what I do 💚

“Thank you for today's Bowen session, even though every previous session has been noticeably beneficial, the one today was the best experience ever. It was warm and comforting and seemed as though it went deeper somehow. I felt joy and gratitude punctuated with laughter, which still continues hours later and now accompanied by a lovely feeling of freedom or lightness…”

Sometimes people come for physical pain… and discover just how much stress, tension and emotion the body has been quietly holding onto.

The nervous system, muscles, breathing patterns and fascia are all connected more than many people realise.

When the body finally feels safe enough to let go, the changes can feel surprisingly emotional, calming and freeing.

Bowen Therapy is gentle… but often profoundly relaxing.

Messages like this remind me why I continue learning more about fascia, stress and nervous system balance.

Really looking forward to this in June 🌿

I’ll be attending a 2-day Fascia Release workshop to continue expanding my knowledge and understanding of the body.

The more I learn about fascia, the more fascinating it becomes.

Fascia is the connective web that runs through the entire body — influencing: • Movement
• Tension
• Posture
• Pain patterns
• The nervous system
• Even how the body responds to stress

What interests me most is how the body adapts and stores patterns over time.

Not just physically… but emotionally too.

The workshop will focus on: • Fascial release
• Nervous system regulation
• Palpation and body awareness
• How restrictions in the body can influence movement and pain patterns

I’m always looking at ways to improve what I do and deepen my understanding of how the body works as a whole.

The learning never stops 🌿
