DON’T FEAR CARDIO — Cardio Won’t Kill Your Gains 💪🏃‍♂️ (part 2)

15/10/2026

If you’re natural, comparing yourself to enhanced physiques is a losing game.

Building muscle naturally takes years — and chasing size alone can eventually become monotonous.

That’s one reason I think bodybuilders should build their aerobic fitness too.

Strong. Muscular. Fit.

Eat your calories, kids! 🍚

No calories, no gainz! 💪😂

Beginners can get away with under-fuelling to a large degree and still make progress.

But once you’re an intermediate to advanced lifter, gaining new muscle becomes progressively harder.

If you’re training hard with the goal of building muscle, you need to make sure you’re actually eating enough to support it.

Think of your training as giving your body the instructions to build…

Food provides the bricks and mortar. 🧱

You can have the best training programme in the world, but consistently under-fuelling isn’t going to maximise your ability to build new muscle tissue.

Do you track your calories — or do you train your arse off without giving much thought to actually fuelling it?

Fu🙅🏻‍♂️k the scales ⚖️ 😂

They’ve messed with your mind for WAY too long!

It’s time to take back control and know your worth!! 🦸‍♀️

Stop letting one number dictate whether you’re making progress.

Getting stronger.
Building muscle.
Moving better.
Feeling fitter.
Having more confidence in what your body can actually do.

None of those things fit neatly into a number on the bathroom scales.

If you want to change how you look and feel, strength training is the BEST place to start. 💪

I’m currently running the Body Reach 4-Week Strength Project here in Chorley.

4 weeks.
8 fully coached strength & fitness sessions.
A personal Start Point.
Simple progress tracking.

ÂŁ59 for the full four weeks (limited time).

But here’s the nuance most people miss:

In sumo, your adductors are more lengthened.

Muscles are strongest near resting length—
not fully stretched.

So yes—
you gain leverage…

but you lose muscle advantage off the floor.

That’s why sumo often feels harder to break from the ground.

Conventional has more “pop” off the floor—
but is harder to lockout.

Sumo = harder start, easier lockout.

And on a whippy bar…

sumo does gain a mechanical advantage.

Excited to welcome some new members to Body Reach this week! 🙌💚

And even more excited to show them what a genuinely supportive, no-ego, no-judgement, hardworking community looks like! 💪

We turn up, we work hard, we encourage each other, and we have a good laugh along the way.

Because training shouldn’t feel intimidating. You shouldn’t have to be fit before you walk through the door, and you certainly shouldn’t feel like you need to look or lift a certain way to belong.

Fitness is for EVERYONE. ❤️

And if you’re someone who’s been watching from the outside, wondering whether you’d fit in…

Come and have a workout with us!

You don’t need to know what you’re doing. You don’t need to be in shape. You just need to turn up. We’ll take care of the rest. 😊

Let’s have another brilliant week, team!

Work hard. Have a laugh. Get stronger. Together.

BOSH! 💥💪

In Part 2 of my cholesterol series, I reveal my own blood test results and highlight something particularly interesting: just how powerful our genetic predispositions can be. 🧬

As my results demonstrate, lifestyle alone cannot always overcome our genetics.

“Let food be thy medicine” is excellent advice, but food cannot always be our only medicine.

Nutrition and lifestyle should always be our foundation, but sometimes medical intervention is necessary too. 💊

Does being fit, lean and active mean your cholesterol must be fine?...

You don’t fall asleep…

You transition into it.

If you’re:
• answering emails
• scrolling
• solving problems

At 9PM…

Your brain is still in daytime mode.

Sleep isn’t an on/off switch.
It’s a landing sequence.

You wouldn’t slam the brakes on a motorway…
so don’t expect your brain to.

Fix:
👉 Start winding down 2–3 hours before bed
👉 Lower stimulation
👉 Become boring

If your partner thinks you’ve turned into a human vegetable…
you’re doing it right.

What’s the last thing you do before bed?

This is sleep video 5/8. Full video is on my YouTube channel 🛌

Snorting that protein shake the SECOND you finish your workout? 😂

You probably don’t need to.

The old-school idea that you’ve got a tiny 30-minute “anabolic window” before your gainz disappear isn’t really how it works.

Your total daily protein intake matters far more.

Then, if you want to optimise things further, spread that protein across the day rather than smashing most of it in one sitting.

For most people, 3–5 decent servings of protein, roughly 3–5 hours apart, is a perfectly sensible approach.

Somewhere around 25–40g of high-quality protein per meal will cover plenty of people, although your needs depend on your size and total daily target.

Train hard.
Eat enough protein.
Stop sprinting to your shaker like your muscles are going to disappear. 😂

Are you still necking your protein shake before you’ve even put the dumbbells down?

We’re basically living in a caveman’s dream 😂

For most of human history, getting enough calories was difficult.

Now? Food is everywhere.

So yes — fat loss still requires a calorie deficit.

But the goal isn’t to eat as little as humanly possible.

Go too aggressive and hunger ramps up, training performance suffers, your energy drops and eventually your motivation goes with it.

The skill is creating a deficit you can actually sustain.

Not starving yourself for two weeks and hoping willpower saves you. 😂
