I have been reading Same Time Next Week? by Joshua Fletcher and I would really recommend it.

It is written in such an honest, human and accessible way about anxiety, therapy and all the messy parts of being a person trying to navigate life.

Josh writes with such honesty, warmth and humour about anxiety, therapy, being human, and the pressure so many of us feel to somehow “fix” ourselves quickly and perfectly. What I really appreciated is that this book doesn’t offer another shiny quick fix. Instead, it gently invites us to make room for the messy, complicated, very normal feelings that come with being human.

I found it reassuring and validating, especially if anxiety, overthinking or feeling like you need to “fix” yourself feels familiar and it is a lovely reminder of the importance of compassion, humour and realness in the therapy room, and that none of us are perfect humans either.

Sometimes just understanding what is happening inside us can be the first step to feeling a little less alone with it.
