It's Here!
After overcoming several setbacks and plunging ourselves into the world of self publication, our first volume of We are Aware - Local : North Somerset, UK peer community poetry is here!
An amazing collection of insightful, profound, though-provoking, intense, raw, and amusing (not all in the same poem) writing. Its been a privilege to read in assembly and we pleased to be able to share that the final proof has landed and copies will be available with the next week or so.
Huge thank yous to all who contributed, proof-read and generally encouraged along the way. Thanks to Clevedon Community Bookshop for initial support in getting us underway. Thanks to Eternal Journal Amy for her working of Becci's original photo for the cover.

🌟 Volunteers' Week 2026 🌟
This week, we are celebrating and thanking our incredible volunteers who generously give their time, energy, compassion and skills to support our organisation.
Whether they're helping to run groups, supporting activities, welcoming new members, offering a listening ear, working behind the scenes, or lending a hand wherever it's needed, their contribution makes a real difference every single day.
Our volunteers are at the heart of what we do. Their dedication helps us create safe, supportive and inclusive spaces where people can connect, grow and feel valued.
To each and every one of our volunteers: thank you. We truly couldn't do what we do without you. Your kindness, commitment and generosity are appreciated more than words can say.
Please join us in celebrating our fabulous volunteers this Volunteers' Week and showing them some well-deserved appreciation. 💙

There are currently 6 TalkingPoint benches - Clevedon, Nailsea, Portishead, Portsmouth, Wrexham and Bristol. The semicolon being the universal symbol for mental health, trauma and su***de survival. As the author uses the semicolon to show a sentence has not finished, so the semicolon has become the survivors symbol of My Story Isn't Over. These are chat benches in the form of a semicolon, but also serve as a visual reminder to reach out for support and check-in on loved ones.

Another productive gardening session in our amazing garden space. Every session seems to see new plants and colours- and now a more orderly compost area!
Great to see new faces adding themselves to the workforce and enjoying the space as well.
Continued thanks to Scotch Horn Leisure Centre North Somerset Council and Kenn Lunch Break for making it all possible.

The semicolon has become the universal symbol for mental health, trauma and su***de survival. As the author uses the semicolon to show a sentence has not finished, so the semicolon has become the message your story is not over.
The TalkingPoint benches are chat benches for connection, but also visual reminders to reach out for support and check-in on loved ones.
We will never know which conversations and connections are those that help get someone from today into tomorrow

Last week was Mental Health Awareness Week
Events and publicity may have introduced some really helpful and challenging conversations that hopefully have lasting and transformative impacts on individuals' lives for the better.
But today is the first day after Mental Health Awareness Week when the focus moves on to the next topic. Just because the spotlight has moved on, there will still be individuals struggling in need of finding support; in need of a conversation

This week has been Mental Health Awareness Week.
We discussed what mental health awareness means within our peer community at our Nailsea group this week- the positives in raising awareness; the concerns that the conversations stop at the end of the awareness week; the frustrations that stigma around mental health still exists; the challenges of finding support that listens and validates

The cartoons have been a great source of relatable expressions to many we support, and often very thought-provoking: with 3 published books available and one more on the way.

If you or anyone you know might benefit from joining our mental health lived experience peer community, please don't hesitate to contact us.
