Yoga with Katy. Bristol, UK

Yoga with Katy. Bristol, UK Scaravelli influenced yoga The style of yoga that I teach is a form of Hatha yoga and is influenced by Vanda Scaravelli.

Vanda worked with both B.K.S Iyenga and Desikachar and taking these influences brought her own unique and truly revolutionary approach to her practice. Vanda’s focus was on our vital core, the spine. By working with gravity we can create freedom in our spine which helps to create a feeling of lightness, allowing for more movement and freedom in our bodies. My approach is to spend time exploring ea

ch posture and to work with the body, rather than use force and fight against the body. We work in a more subtle, intuitive and intelligent way, to encourage the release of tension and work towards a more supple body. This practice is for you if you are seeking a more personal, slower approach to practice. If you are looking for a 'work-out' this isn't the place for you! This is the place for you if you:
- feel stuck in your practice and want to release unwanted tension (physical & emotional) which causes discomfort or limits mobility, find a balance between strength and softness, undo holding patterns, and discover more ease, lightness and spaciousness in both body and mind
- want a deeper practice where you gain an understanding and sense of each body part i.e. limbs, pelvis, spine, lungs, diaphragm, and its interconnectedness in order to function and breathe
- wish to gain an understanding of gravity/anti-gravity and how to utilise its full potential
- are looking for a mindful, meditative practice, that focuses attention on bodily sensation and breath, bringing us out of our busy heads and back home to the body.

How are you?

I mean... how are you really?

When was the last time you stopped long enough to check in with yourself?

This week, when I've been chatting with those attending class, one theme has come up again and again -

"I'm tired."

And honestly, it's not surprising.

Life is noisy.

There are work deadlines, family commitments, endless to-do lists, social expectations, and a constant stream of news and information demanding our attention.

We're so used to pushing through that we barely notice when we're running on empty.

But our bodies notice.

Fatigue. Brain fog. Aches and pains. Hot flushes. Feeling overwhelmed.

Often these are signs that we're carrying too much stress for too long.

As we get older, our bodies become less willing to let us ignore what they need.

And what they often need is:
🤍 Rest.
🤍 Space.
🤍 Time to reconnect.

This is why Root to Rise Retreats exist.

A space to slow down.
A space to come home to yourself.
A space to step off autopilot and reconnect with what truly matters.

When we reduce stress and create room to breathe, we can begin to invest our energy in the things we love, the people we care about, and the life we want to live.

If you've been feeling the need to pause, reset, and reconnect, I'd love for you to join us this summer.

☀️ Our final Root to Rise Retreat before autumn is approaching, and there are just 2 early-bird spaces remaining.

Perhaps this is your sign to put yourself on your own priority list.

DM me for details. 🤍

I made a mug 😁

My first go at pottery.

It's not perfect, a little wonky in places, but i love it.

It's a reminder that not everything worth doing needs to be done perfectly.

And to remember to make space for the things that light me up ✨

Strength doesn't have to look big or showy.

This week's headlines reported that just 2 hours of strength training a week could help reduce the risk of early death.

Strength training isn't only about lifting heavy weights.

For many people, simply working against their own body weight is enough to start building strength, improving balance, supporting joints, and maintaining muscle and bone health.

Many clients come to yoga with fatigue, aches, tension, inflammation, or a sense that they're getting weaker.

Over time, they often tell me they feel stronger, steadier, healthier, and more confident in their bodies.

As I navigate medically induced menopause without HRT, protecting my bone, brain, and heart health has become especially important to me.

I've recently completed further training in Yoga for Strength and have enjoyed incorporating weights into my own practice.

But in class, we often begin with the most accessible form of resistance training there is: your own body.

Strength without strain.

And when the time is right, we can gradually add bands, weights, and more challenge.

How are you feeling this week?

Skipping towards the weekend or dragging yourself there? 😴

I'm not sure whether it's the weather, the moon, menopause, or simply the aftermath of last week's half term fun, but I'm tired and feeling ready for a reset.

When Friday arrives, many of us celebrate with a large glass of wine, a takeaway, and collapsing on the sofa. It feels like the oerfect way to unwind after a busy week.

But how do you feel when you wake up Saturday morning?

If I'm honest, these days even one glass of wine doesn't leave me feeling my best the next morning!

So instead of the usual Friday night routine, why not choose a different way to unwind?

If you’ve been craving a reset this summer, I have 5 spaces available for my Summer Retreat on 18th July ☀️

Root to Rise is a one-day retreat created especially for women in midlife and beyond - a gentle space to pause, breathe deeply, and come home to yourselves, reconnecting with your inner wisdom.

Through gentle yoga, breathwork, meditation and meaningful conversation, you'll be invited to slow down and reconnect.

Yoga, nourishing food, time in nature, and deep restorative rest will support you in softening, settling, and turning inward.

It is from this quiet, grounded place that true healing and transformation can begin.

There is no expectation. No pressure. Just space to be.

At our Spring Gathering, we explored yoga, meditation, and honest, heart-led reflection - softening out of autopilot and reconnecting with ourselves. Together, we met patterns like people-pleasing, disconnection, and self-doubt with compassion, while remembering the love, strength, and wisdom already within us.

This summer, we’ll build on that foundation as we explore stepping into our full expression - our purpose, our dharma, and the next chapter we’re being called towards 🌿

If this resonates with you, I’d absolutely love for you to join us 💛

Book your spot via the link in my bio.

Excited to be collaborating with to bring you Root to Rise: The Gentle Reset

What a beautiful spring retreat 🌿 Blue skies, swallows in flight, and the most special space to gather.

Our theme was “Tending to the heart — the seat of our soul and bridge to awakening.”

We began by grounding into the body through yoga, then softened into the heart through meditation - gently letting go of unhelpful patterns and reconnecting with ourselves.

We explored what arises when the heart feels out of balance… and met it all with honesty, compassion, and care.

And then, we softened.
We practised kindness.
We remembered that everything we need is already within us - love, wisdom, strength.

So much gratitude for the open, brave souls who shared this space 💛

It’s taken me a full week to recover from the Easter holidays…

Keeping the kids entertained (without it costing a fortune) isn’t easy.

There were some beautiful moments though - sunny days in Devon, slower rhythms, fresh air. But these days I really feel it: when life is all go, I need balance or I burn out.

So this week I’ve softened everything.
More rest.
Good food.
Early nights.
Gentle prep for my Root to Rise retreat this Saturday.

Spring is such a potent time - full of energy, growth, and possibility. But it can also feel intense, even overwhelming.

That’s why this season calls for replenishment.
For slowing down enough to feel resourced, resilient, and ready for whatever unfolds.

This is the energy I’ll be weaving into Saturday’s retreat ✨
