Around 70% of melanoma appear as a new mole. They are often very dark, almost black in appearance and darker than other moles on your skin. They can also be very small (as tiny as a pen tip).
Due to their size it can be difficult to detect further features that could indicate the early signs of melanoma as they may appear relatively uniform in colour and irregularities to the border may be difficult to distinguish to the naked or untrained eye.
Not all melanoma follow the ABCDE rule!
If you spot anything of this nature on your skin - get it checked out as soon as possible and keep a very close eye on it for any changes in size, shape or colour.
Remember, anything new, unusual or changing on your skin should be checked
