If you're exhausted, anxious, overwhelmed, struggling to sleep, or feeling like your body is constantly running on empty, you're not alone.

These are some of the most common reasons people come to see me.

Many people spend months, sometimes years, trying to push through. They assume they're not coping well enough, resting enough, exercising enough, or trying hard enough.

But often the problem isn't a lack of effort.

It's a nervous system that has been carrying too much for too long.

The body is incredibly intelligent. It adapts to stress, pressure, responsibility, poor sleep, emotional load, hormonal changes, and the demands of modern life. But eventually it starts asking for support.

If you’re someone who feels exhausted all the time but still struggles to truly switch off, this might be why.

A lot of high-functioning people live in constant low-level nervous system activation without realising it. The body stays subtly alert, even during rest. Thinking. Monitoring. Planning. Anticipating.

Over time, exhaustion stops being just about sleep and starts becoming about nervous system load.

This is why rest doesn’t always feel restorative. The body doesn’t simply need more sleep. It needs moments that genuinely feel safe enough to stop bracing.

And often, the nervous system responds to smaller things than people expect.

Natural light.

Slower transitions.

Time outside.

Less stimulation.

Warmth.

Rhythm.

Repetition.

The body is always reading the environment for cues of safety.

Save this for the days when your exhaustion feels deeper than tiredness.

And send it to someone who always says “I’m tired” but never truly slows down.

A lot of people think they’ve “lost themselves.”
But most of the time, that isn’t what happened.
Most people adapted.

As children, we learned very quickly which parts of us felt safe to express, and which parts risked disconnection, criticism, rejection, or emotional withdrawal. So the nervous system did what it was designed to do.

It protected us.

We became more agreeable. More useful. More manageable. More emotionally contained. Not consciously. Automatically.
And over time, performing can start to feel more familiar than being.
That’s why authenticity is not just a mindset shift. It’s a nervous system process.

The body has to feel safe enough to stop monitoring, adjusting, and performing long enough for something more real to begin to emerge.

This is one of the reasons I care so deeply about herbs and nervous system support.

Not because plants “fix” people. But because they can help create the internal conditions where the body softens, the system settles, and something underneath all the coping finally has room to breathe.
You didn’t lose yourself.

Your nervous system protected you the best way it knew how.

And slowly, safely, you can come back.
