I can’t believe I have just four more spaces to support families as their birth doula this year!

So, if your baby is due in October, November or December, I’d love to hear from you.

We can arrange a free, no obligation call to explore the support I could offer.

Stillbirth is incredibly rare. 🙏
There are often factors which the studies don’t explain that contribute to baby deaths.

When considering interventions such as induction of labour, it is important to understand the true risks, rather than being told,”your risk of stillbirth doubles at 41weeks”.

That right there is scary language without context.

At 39, 40, 41 and 42 weeks pregnancy, you are MORE THAN 99% likely to have a healthy baby.
And, 37-42 weeks is normal term pregnancy.

A wonderful blessing of doula work is the connection you make with the families you support.

I love catching up with past clients, reminiscing about their baby’s birth and how their life’s have changed since baby’s arrival.

This little one is already almost 9 months old. Growing so fast!

Understanding the data behind the language used by maternity health professionals is key to making informed decisions.

One lever often used to persuade you to have an Induction of Labour, is the increased risk of stillbirth.

However, 2000 women would need to be induced to prevent 1 stillbirth.

And, induction of labour has its own risks, often not talked about!

⚠️Increased risk of having a caesarean.
⚠️Increased risk of having an instrumental birth. (Ventouse or forceps).
⚠️Increased risk of baby having low APGAR score at birth. (A measure of baby’s health at birth.)
⚠️Increased risk of baby being admitted to NICU.

Please ask for all the information.
We discuss risks and benefits of all options as part of my antenatal and hypnobirthing courses. 😊

20~20~20
20 seconds build up/rise
20 seconds of INTENSITY.
20 seconds fall.
Then a pause of 2 or 3 minutes or more, before the next contraction.

Does that sound more manageable?

My antenatal and hypnobirthing courses are packed full of information to help you to prepare for and manage your baby’s birth.

Postnatal night support. A time for you to catch up on much needed sleep. To re-set.
Here’s how last nights shift went;

🌙 10pm Arrived. Baby sleeping. Parents went off to bed.
🌙Laundry folded.
Washed up and wiped kitchen sides.
Swept floor.
Nappy caddy stocked.
🌙Crosswords to pass time.
🌙00.30-1am Feed, nappy change, cuddles.
01.30 baby settled to sleep.
😴 Nap time for me.
🌙5am baby awake for a feed. Changed. Cuddles. Settled to sleep.
☀️5.30 am Bottles washed.
☀️6am baby taken upstairs asleep and settled with dad.
☀️Home to a beautiful sunny morning, to have a cup of tea, breakfast and then bed!

Night support works for breast fed babies too. Baby is taken to mum when they show feeding cues and then, after their feed, I taken them back to wind, change and settle. Then mummy can get back to sleep quickly.

Doula life is not just attending births. A lot goes on behind the scenes!
Self promotion is key to attracting new clients.
I don’t particularly like taking about myself. So having past clients do it for me is great!!
And, reviews and feedback are important for growth and development.

You can find some of my reviews on my website and more in my profile
