Awareness Week 2026 💙

⚠️ Did you know? Some people with diabetes can develop hypo unawareness, meaning they no longer recognise the usual warning signs of low blood glucose levels. This can increase the risk of severe hypoglycaemia and make everyday activities, including driving and work, more challenging.

🔍 What is hypo unawareness? A hypo occurs when blood glucose falls below 4 mmol/L. Hypo unawareness means these low levels may occur without the typical symptoms, making regular glucose monitoring even more important.

💡 Did you know?
• Frequent hypos can make warning signs harder to recognise over time.
• Awareness may improve if hypos can be avoided for several weeks with support from your diabetes team.
• Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGMs) can provide alerts when glucose levels are falling, helping people act before a hypo becomes severe.

✅ If you think you're experiencing hypo unawareness, speak to your diabetes team. Support, education and diabetes technology may help you regain confidence and stay safe.

🚨 Calling people living with diabetes 🚨
Did you know that you can take part in research that helps shape the future of diabetes care?
Clinical research relies on real people, real experiences, and diverse voices. But right now, women are still underrepresented in many studies — which means treatments and guidance may not fully reflect their needs.
✨ Your experience matters
✨ Your voice can influence better care
✨ Your involvement could help improve outcomes for others
Whether you’re newly diagnosed or have been managing diabetes for years, you may be eligible to take part in research studies in your area or online.
📢 Let’s change the future of diabetes care — together.
If you’re interested in learning more about getting involved in research, drop a message or speak to your healthcare provider.
