From consultation and screening through to aftercare and wellbeing advice, our therapists aim to provide professional care with dignity, compassion and integrity at every step.

Because feeling confident in who you choose matters.

Your large bowel does more than just store poo…💩

When most people think about the large bowel (colon), they often assume its only job is to store stool before going to the toilet — but in reality, it plays a much bigger role in supporting overall health and wellbeing.

Your large bowel helps to:

💧 Absorb water and electrolytes
Helping to maintain hydration and create normal stool consistency.

🦠 Support your gut microbiome
Your colon is home to trillions of beneficial bacteria that help maintain digestive balance and support wellbeing.

🌿 Produce beneficial compounds
When healthy bacteria break down fibre, they produce substances that help nourish and support the cells lining the bowel.

🛡️ Support immune health
A large proportion of immune activity is closely connected to the gut and digestive system.

🧠 Communicate with the nervous system
The gut and brain are constantly communicating, which is one reason stress and emotions can sometimes influence digestion and bowel habits.

✔️ Store and coordinate bowel emptying
And yes — storing stool is still important, but it is only one of many jobs your bowel performs every day.

Your bowel is not simply a storage container — it is an active, intelligent and important part of your overall health. This is why many people choose colonic hydrotherapy treatment’s as part of their wider wellbeing routine - not because they simply want to open their bowel but they understand the benefits of this holistic treatment and that supporting your digestive health from within, helps to support their overall health and wellbeing 💚

At ARCH, our registered colon hydrotherapists understand that booking your very first colonic treatment can feel like a big step.

For many people, it’s a treatment they’ve never experienced before, so it’s only natural to have questions, concerns, or even feel a little apprehensive.

That’s why every ARCH therapist is committed to creating a safe, professional and supportive environment from the moment you walk through the door.

Your therapist will take the time to explain the treatment, answer any questions you may have, and ensure you feel comfortable every step of the way. There is never any pressure to rush, and the treatment will always be carried out at a pace that feels right for you.

We believe that feeling listened to, respected and reassured is just as important as the treatment itself.

Many clients tell us afterwards that the treatment was far gentler and more relaxing than they expected, and that the anticipation beforehand was often the hardest part.

If you’re feeling nervous, please know that you’re not alone—and your ARCH therapist will be there to support you every step of the way.

Professional. Supportive. Reassuring. Always at your pace.

Closed vs Open Colonic Hydrotherapy Systems?

At Association of Registered Colon Hydrotherapists, all ARCH therapists are trained to recognised professional standards with client safety, dignity and comfort always at the heart of every treatment.

Most ARCH therapists use what is known as a closed system. During the treatment, warm body-temperature filtered water is gently introduced into the colon to work alongside the body’s natural elimination processes and encourage a gentle bowel release.

The waste is removed through a closed hygienic tubing system, meaning there is no exposure, smell or odour.

Why do many ARCH therapists use a closed system?

Because it allows the therapist to work closely alongside the client throughout the treatment, carefully monitoring:
✨ Water pressure
✨ Water temperature
✨ Fill and release cycles
✨ Client comfort and wellbeing

The therapist remains with the client throughout the session to support safety, reassurance and relaxation.

Gentle abdominal massage may also be incorporated during treatment to help encourage natural movement within the bowel while also supporting relaxation and activation of the body’s parasympathetic nervous system — often referred to as the “rest and digest” state.

So what is an open system?

An open system involves the client lying on a specialised unit and inserting the small tube themselves. The client then controls the flow of water into the colon independently using a control panel. Waste is released directly into the basin beneath the client and is flushed away during the session.

Here at ARCH colonic association we feel the clients safety and wellbeing should always come first.
