🦷 We are often asked to prescribe pain relief or antibiotics for dental problems. In line with Health and Social Care guidance, GP practices do not provide medication for routine dental pain or dental infections, as these conditions are best assessed and treated by a dentist.

We are also regularly asked about dentists currently accepting new patients. We would like to make patients aware that Family Dental Care - Ballymoney has now opened a waiting list for new patient applications.

We are now creating a waiting list for new NHS patients wishing to be seen by our Dental Therapist.

If you would like to be added to the waiting list, please complete a waiting list form by either:
📍 Attending the practice in person, or 📧 Emailing: [email protected]

Please note:
• Completing a waiting list form does not mean you are registered with the practice at this time.
• Due to high demand for NHS dental appointments, waiting times may be significant.
• At present, only certain treatments are available with our Dental Therapist.

On to more serious issues now……..So this is the start of our IT system changeover journey. We would really appreciate your patience and understanding whilst we go through this change. All routine service suspended but anyone requiring emergency medical care or emergency prescriptions these will be dealt with appropriately.

It is with great sadness that we share that our dear colleague and friend, Dr Catherine McClintock (nee Mullan) passed away peacefully at the Macmillan Unit, Antrim on 3rd June 2026. She was the loving wife of our GP partner Dr Adam McClintock.

Catherine was a GP trainee in the practice from 2020-2021 and subsequently worked as a salaried GP in Armoy as well as a locum GP at various practices in the area.

Catherine was an excellent and caring GP, a loving wife and mother and a dear friend to many. She was much loved by her colleagues, her patients and everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed.

A Service of Thanksgiving will be held in Portstewart Baptist Church on Monday 8th June at 1pm. As a mark of respect, and to allow our staff the opportunity to attend the service, the practice will be closed from 12pm-2.30pm on Monday. During this time only emergency calls will be answered.

We would be grateful for your patience and understanding at this difficult time.
