People fear Kali because she looks terrifying - dark skin, wild hair, a necklace of heads, a sword, and that long red tongue hanging out.
They see only death and miss the love.
The tongue isn’t hunger for blood; it’s her way of tasting and swallowing every illusion so nothing fake can stay.
In her hand she holds the cut off head of ahamkara - the ego mind, or “I-ness” that says “this is me, this is mine.”
She cuts it away not to hurt you, but because she loves you too much to let you stay trapped in a false self.
Kali isn’t here to destroy you.
She’s the fierce Divine Mother who kills everything that isn’t really you, so the real you can finally be free.
Use the Kali Yantra to call her in, and chant her by her many names. Common ones:
“Om Kali Ma”
“Maha Kali”
“Kalika-ye Namaha”
