A common symptom that people struggle with after a brain tumour diagnosis is fatigue.

Fatigue isn't tiredness. It is a symptom that can be completely debilitating, stopping you from doing normal daily activities. People suffer with it in varying degrees, whilst still trying to maintain a job, manage household tasks, chores, look after children, maintain friendships and relationships.

The hardest part of this can be how other people react to fatigue. Because of a lack of awareness and understanding, they don't understand why you are 'too tired' again.

Do you struggle with fatigue? We would love to hear about your experiences and how you cope with it day to day.

If you have been affected by a brain tumour diagnosis, you are not alone. We are here to support you.

Sometimes the easiest time to talk is when you’re not actually sitting down to “have a talk”.

Children will often chat while they’re drawing, building Lego, walking the dog or doing something alongside you.

That was one of the reasons I added some printable activities to the Mummy Has a Lump website. These are simple things designed to give children opportunities to talk without putting them under pressure.

There’s a weekly planner, activities for talking about feelings, ideas for when a parent needs to stay away from home and more.

You’re very welcome to download and use them, whether or not you own one of my books.

You can find them under “Activities” at:

Sometimes the easiest time to talk is when you’re not actually sitting down to “have a talk”.

Children will often chat more freely while they’re doing sonething relaxed, it maybe drawing, building Lego, walking the dog or doing something alongside you, like reading and discussing a book.

That was one of the reasons I added some freely downloadable and printable activities to the Mummy Has a Lump website. Simple things designed to give children opportunities to talk without putting them under pressure.

⭐ A little favour from me…

If you’ve read Mummy Has a Lump, Daddy Has a Lump or Mae Gan Mam Lwmp and found it helpful, would you consider leaving a review?

One of the challenges for a small, independently published book like mine is simply being found by the families who might need it. Reviews help keep the books visible when someone is searching for support at what can be an incredibly difficult time.

You don’t need to write lots — even a sentence about whether the book helped you or your child can make a difference.

I’m always incredibly grateful when I hear that the books have helped a family start a conversation they were struggling to have. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who has supported, recommended, borrowed, bought or shared the books over the years. Reviews can be left on Amazon, google reviews or the bookshop you bought the book from.

Small Things Can Make a Big Difference

I’m extremely grateful to Softwood books Softwood Books for coming to the rescue after my original publisher was forced to close its doors. One of the reasons I wrote Mummy Has a Lump was because I wanted families to have a gentle starting point for conversations that can feel incredibly difficult. The right words at the right moment can make a huge difference. Softwood just helped reassure me that Mummy has a lump will remain available for families who need it.

Over the years, thanks to the kindness and support of family and friends, copies of the book have been donated to libraries, hospitals, schools and charities across the UK so that more families can access it when they need it.

If someone you know is facing a serious illness, never underestimate the impact of a kind message, a listening ear, or simply being there.

Sometimes the smallest acts of support are remembered the longest.

TOMORROW !!!
Thinking of visiting Conwy tomorrow? It's a beautiful place, but why not "Let The River Run" without you for a few hours, and head to Llandudno Promenade for a few hours for the North Wales !
Sing with Us Llandudno choir and Sing with Us Wrexham choir will be performing, "With A Little Help From My Friends" and special guests, to raise awareness of, and funds for, Tenovus Cancer Care / Gofal Canser Tenovus , Wales's leading cancer charity.
One setlist is "Never Enough" so the choirs will perform 2 different sets during the day - why not hang around for both!
We're all set for 4 hours of great live music tomorrow! What's missing? "Only You" 🙂🙂🙂 !!

Brain tumours don’t care if you’re gay, straight or bi – they don’t discriminate and can strike anyone at any time. It’s important to us that LGBTQ+ individuals affected by a brain tumour feel they can approach The Charity for support and by publicly acknowledging Pride Month, we’re ensuring our message is clear: we’re committed to going further and faster to improve the lives for EVERYONE affected by this devastating disease.

Brain Tumours don’t discriminate and neither do we.

I won an award tonight, I’m over the moon! It’s not about the actual award, but it’s about the support, recognition and opportunities in my new career. My brain tumour has taken away the career that I loved and at the time it was the end of the world. It was like a huge part of me had been crushed. Tonight was a recognition that I’m actually doing quite well gaining qualifications in my second career choice in spite of Roger my Lodger thank you very much and that felt good. I didnt talk about Roger once- not because I don’t want to, but because I don’t need to, it was just about the study and the qualification an my work, college and employer. Win win win.

The UK’s biggest-selling arena artist, Peter Kay, has announced a series of final arena shows across the UK & Ireland, with ALL profits donated to 12 leading cancer charities, with The Charity being one of them!

Peter remains a close family friend of the Nuttall family. He supported Laura Nuttall, who was one of our Young Ambassadors and a phenomenal supporter of The Charity, when she was going through treatment over the years before she sadly died in 2023.

Laura and her family even managed to coax Peter Kay out of retirement to perform sell-out ‘Doing it For Laura’ gigs at Manchester’s O2 Apollo in 2021.

A massive thank you to Peter for his unwavering support of The Charity, and we cannot wait to see the show! Tickets for the tour go on sale on Sunday, 30 November.

Tickets on sale Sunday, 30th November at 10AM via lnk.to/PeterKayLive
