We’re so proud to see four talented groomers recognised at this year’s awards. Each of them started their journey as a student at Wizard of Dogs, and it’s been a pleasure to watch their skills and confidence grow.

✨ Up and Coming Groomer of the Year — Kara McCabe

Kara started as a student with us six years ago and has never looked back. She’s continued to perfect her grooming skills and has been placed in many grooming competitions. Anyone who has trained at Wizard of Dogs in recent years may have had the pleasure of working alongside Kara and seeing what a fabulous talent she is.

✨ Up and Coming Freestyle Groomer of the Year — Rachel Morton

Rachel started as a student five years ago. Since then, she has gone on to compete in the grooming ring and is now competing in the dog show ring too. We’re so proud of everything she has achieved.

✨ Up and Coming Freestyle Groomer of the Year — Cliona Grant

Cliona started as a student four years ago and quickly caught the competitive grooming bug. Since then, she has entered and placed in many grooming competitions. It’s been wonderful to see her passion and talent grow.

✨ Creative Groomer of the Year — Christina Adams

Christina started grooming with us six years ago and quickly fell in love with the work. She has always had a creative side and a real passion for creative grooming. Since exploring that passion, she has earned places in many grooming competitions.

Day 2.

What a weekend with the fabulous Julie Harris!

Julie’s wealth of knowledge is incredible, but it’s her passion for the grooming industry that really shines through. It’s truly infectious, and people leave her seminars feeling inspired, motivated and excited to put what they’ve learned into practice.

Day 2 was another fantastic day of learning, covering the Cockapoo, Cocker Spaniel, hand stripping Miniature Schnauzer and, most importantly, understanding the why behind each trim and technique.

Having that deeper understanding can completely change the way we approach our grooming helping us make better decisions, improve our skills and produce work we can truly be proud of.

One thing this weekend really reinforced is the Wizard of Dogs motto:

“We want you to be respected and admired for your work, so that your customers will return time and time again.”

There is always more to learn, no matter how long you’ve been in the industry. Investing in education is one of the best investments you can make in yourself, your skills, your business and your future.

A massive thank you to Julie Harris for sharing your incredible knowledge, experience and passion with everyone over the two days. It was an absolute pleasure to welcome you to Wizard of Dogs.

And, of course, a huge thank you to Christies for kindly sponsoring the event and supporting continued education within our industry. Your support is very much appreciated.

Julie’s wealth of knowledge is absolutely mind blowing, and her passion for the grooming industry is truly infectious.

Today was all about anatomy and angulation understanding the dog beneath the coat and how that knowledge can completely change the way we approach our grooming.

One thing today really reinforced:

🎓 Educating yourself builds confidence and competence, adding real value to you, your skills and your business.

There is always more to learn, and investing in education is one of the best investments you can make in yourself and your future.

What a fantastic first day!

We’re looking forward to another brilliant day tomorrow, when Julie will be working with a Cocker Spaniel, Miniature Schnauzer and Cockapoo, putting even more of that knowledge into practice.

Today we’re celebrating a fantastic achievement as our Head Tutor, Thomas, visited Conal at A Tail of Wags to proudly present him with his official certificate after successfully completing his OCN NI Level 3 Diploma in Commercial Dog Grooming, Animal Welfare & Salon Management.

Conal is now a FULLY QUALIFIED DOG GROOMER, trained to the exceptionally high standards we are proud to uphold here at Wizard of Dogs Training School.
