Every year, your feedback helps build a clear picture of what is working well and where services need to improve for children and young people with SEND and their families.

Last year’s survey established an important baseline. This year’s results will help measure whether things are improving, staying the same, or getting worse following the Local Area Partnership’s improvement work since the Ofsted/CQC inspection.

The survey is independently facilitated by Northamptonshire Parent Carer Voices and co-produced with local partners to ensure we are asking the questions that matter most to families.

🩷Carers Week 2026 – Celebrating Parent Carers 🩵

This week marks Carers Week 2026, a national campaign shining a light on the vital contribution of unpaid carers and promoting this year’s theme: “Building Carer Friendly Communities.”

At Northamptonshire Parent Carer Voices, we want to take a moment to recognise the extraordinary parent carers who support children and young people with SEND every single day.
Being a parent carer often means far more than parenting alone. It can mean coordinating appointments, attending meetings, managing therapies, advocating for support, navigating complex systems, providing personal care, supporting emotional wellbeing, managing challenging behaviours, coping with sleepless nights, and carrying responsibilities that continue long after many families would expect their children to become independent.
It can be rewarding, but it can also be exhausting, isolating and overwhelming.

Despite these challenges, parent carers continue to show remarkable strength, resilience and determination in securing the best possible outcomes for their children and young people.

At NPCV, we see the reality behind the statistics. We hear your stories, celebrate your successes, support you through challenges and work alongside local partners to ensure parent carers’ voices influence the decisions that affect their families.

Through our workshops, events, peer support, surveys, co-production work, strategic representation and SEND Support & Advocacy Hub, we are committed to helping build communities and services that understand, value and support parent carers.

Join us for a range of discounted private hire outdoor activity sessions designed for SEND families at Iron Pit Woods Adventure!

Yesterday, a group of parent carers enjoyed a much-needed wellbeing session at the Holiday Inn Corby Kettering Hotel & Spa. 💙

It was a wonderful opportunity for parent/carers to connect, take some time out, and focus on their own wellbeing. Some parents relaxed in and around the pool, while others treated themselves to a spa treatment.
As parent carers, we often spend so much time caring for others that it can be difficult to prioritise our own wellbeing. Taking time to pause, recharge, and look after ourselves is so important.

A huge thank you to the Holiday Inn Corby - Kettering A43 for providing this opportunity and working with us to support local parent carers. We are incredibly grateful for your hospitality and commitment to helping families access wellbeing opportunities.

🌳 Help Shape More Inclusive Play Spaces 🌳

Forestry England is looking for feedback from disabled children, young people, adults, families, carers, and professionals to help design a new inclusive wheelchair swing for use in forest play areas across England.

As part of a national development project, they want to hear about your experiences of wheelchair swings the good, the bad, and the challenges you've encountered.

Your feedback will help inform the design and procurement process, ensuring future equipment is as inclusive, accessible, and enjoyable as possible.

Forestry England has already been making improvements to accessibility at visitor sites, including Changing Places facilities, inclusive play equipment, and assisted access features at locations such as Fineshade Wood - Forestry England and Salcey Forest.
