Why are we using some AI-generated images?

The honest answer is that, as parent-carers ourselves, we know how quickly things move. There is always another survey, meeting, consultation, campaign, event or important piece of information that we need/want to share with you.

Sometimes, using AI to create a graphic means we can get that message out quickly and effectively, rather than spending hours trying to create the perfect image.

We know that not everyone likes AI-generated graphics and that’s okay. Some people much prefer real photographs or more traditional graphics, and we completely understand that.

For us, though, the image isn't the important bit.

It's about making sure parent-carers know what's happening, know where they can have their say, and know that their experiences matter.

We aren't using AI to replace the people, stories or lived experience behind what we do. Quite the opposite we're using another tool to help us share those voices more quickly.

We'll continue to use a mixture of real photos, graphics and AI-generated images where it makes sense. And we'll always try to keep the focus where it belongs:

on parent-carers, on our families and on making sure our voices are heard ❤️

Why language matters.

This morning one of the team received an email from their son’s school. It started with: “I hope that you have been able to have some enjoyable times over the holidays.”

It’s a simple sentence but for the first time, she hadn’t been asked if she had a fantastic summer, a really good holiday, or whether she had enjoyed every minute. Instead, the language recognised something really important: not every day is always filled with joy and happiness.

When you are raising children with disabilities, some days are hard, some days are exhausting, some days are really challenging. Yes, there are wonderful, funny, joyful moments too. But assuming that every family has had a “fantastic” holiday can unintentionally make people feel like their reality doesn’t fit.

That small change in language made her feel heard and included. It made her think about how powerful language can be.

Inclusive language isn't always about finding the perfect words or knowing exactly what to say, Sometimes, it’s simply about not making assumptions. It’s about saying, “I hope there were some enjoyable moments,” rather than assuming everything was wonderful.

That one sentence made her day.

More importantly, it reminded her that the words we choose can either unintentionally exclude people from the conversation or make them feel seen, understood and welcome.

Language matters.

A reminder after the recent Channel 4 programme about ADHD 💜

We know the programme and some of the conversations around it have had a real impact on many parent carers, families and individuals. If you have been left feeling upset, dismissed, angry, confused or worried your feelings are valid. 🫶🏻

ADHD is not a myth, and neither are the experiences of the people living with it, or the families supporting them.

So, we want to remind everyone of something simple but incredibly important… ...Kindness 💕 costs nothing.

A safe space.
A listening ear.
Genuine compassion.
Taking the time to understand someone else's experience.

These things matter, now more than ever.

Whatever anyone's personal views or opinions, the responsibility to support the people around us, both at work and in our communities, remains exactly the same.

And what we do want to say is this:

ADHD and other neurodivergent conditions whether formally diagnosed, identified or suspected are not up for debate.

Behind every diagnosis is a person. Behind every family is a story. Behind every parent carer is a journey that others may never fully see.

We don't all have to agree. But we can choose to be respectful. We can choose kindness. We can choose to listen rather than judge.

Please look after one another. 💕

🌍 Welcome to Holland – A different journey, not a lesser one 🌷

Yesterday, many young people received their GCSE or equivalent results. For some, it was a day filled with pride, excitement and celebration. For others, it may have been a difficult day mourning a milestone they had hoped to reach but didn’t.

It reminded us of the beautiful message in Welcome to Holland by Emily Perl Kingsley.

The poem describes the experience of preparing for a trip to Italy, only to discover that you have landed in Holland. At first, there can be disappointment because it isn't the destination you expected. But then you begin to discover that Holland has its own beauty, experiences and possibilities. 🇮🇹➡️🇳🇱

Sometimes, young people are on a journey that doesn't look like the one we imagined for them.

Their route might be different.
Their timeline might be different.
Their achievements might look different.
Their destination might even change.

But different does not mean less. ❤️

A set of GCSE grades cannot measure a young person's potential, creativity, kindness, resilience, determination, talents or dreams.

Every child is individual. Every child is unique. And every child deserves to have their journey celebrated not compared against someone else's.

So, whatever yesterday brought

🌟 **Their story isn't defined by a results sheet.**
🌟 **Their future isn't decided by their grades.**
🌟 **Their potential is far greater than a set of letters or numbers.**

There are so many different routes through life. College, Day centres, companions, apprenticeships, employment, further education, volunteering, entrepreneurship, creative careers, practical careers and opportunities that haven't even been imagined yet.

Sometimes we arrive somewhere we didn't expect and discover that there is incredible beauty there too. 🌷

Let's celebrate the young person, not just the result.

Yet the most important thing we can tell our young people today is:

*our journey may be different, but it can still be extraordinary. ❤️

Yesterday we shared a stand with Northamptonshire Parent Carer Voices CIC at their SEND family fun day, making sure families could access the support they need. 💙

Our amazing SEND Support Hub team were busy all day, speaking with families, offering advice, guidance and a listening ear. It was wonderful to meet so many of you, whether you needed a quick chat, information about services or support with more complex issues.

For everyone we promised to follow up with, thank you for your patience and we’ll be in touch very soon to arrange the one-to-one support and next steps we discussed.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by. We’re proud to be here not just for the fun days, but for the journey that comes afterwards too. 💙
