♻️ Sustainable September: Can Latex Gloves Be Recycled?

The simple answer is no. Latex gloves are often contaminated with germs, chemicals, or other substances, making them unsuitable for standard recycling processes.

✅ Dispose of used latex gloves in your general waste bin.

The good news? Natural latex is made from rubber tree sap and is biodegradable, meaning it will break down naturally over time.

🌱 If your gloves are made from natural latex and haven't been contaminated with hazardous substances, they may be suitable for composting. Just remember to:
• Clean and disinfect them first
• Cut them into small pieces
• Add them to your compost bin or heap

Small changes in how we dispose of everyday items can make a big difference.

Most of us own at least one pair of trainers, but have you ever thought about what happens when they're no longer usable?

An average pair of trainers can take approximately 1,000 years to decompose, and an estimated 33 million pairs end up in landfill across the UK each year.

Many retailers and organisations now offer convenient recycling schemes, including Nike, Justrun, Runners Needed, Schuh and Clarks. You can also find shoe banks at many council recycling centres and supermarket car parks.

Before binning your old footwear, consider recycling it and helping reduce landfill waste.
