I deadlift so I can still pick my kids up. All 4 of them.
Over 40, house full of little ones, some wanting lifting at once. Doesn’t happen without a strong back and hips.
Deadlifts train exactly that: bend, grip, stand up safely. Most functional lift there is.
The “bad for your back” fear? Usually poor form, not the lift. Coached right, it protects your spine.
So when the youngest twins want me to pick them up for the tenth time - my back’s ready.
