Most of us welcome hot weather, but when it's too hot, there are health risks.

Stay well in a heatwave by seeking shade, drinking plenty of fluids, and reducing physical activity.

This Armed Forces Week, we’re celebrating the first anniversary of Midlands Op COURAGE’s neighbourhood-based assessment clinics. They are improving access to mental health support for veterans, service leavers, reservists and their families. More than 30 clinics have been held across the Midlands and over 275 veterans have received assessment.

“The improvements we’ve seen in waiting times and patient experience reflect the value of working in this way, and the positive feedback from veterans reinforces how important it is to provide care that is both responsive and tailored to their needs.” - Dr Dan Barnard, Midlands Op COURAGE Clinical Lead, Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust

If you’ve ever served in the UK Armed Forces, are struggling with your mental health and live in England, Op COURAGE is here to help.

Our dementia and older people community mental health service celebrated the official opening of the Loxley Centre in Stratford, a new, fully refurbished centre for outpatient care of older adults with mental illness and dementia.

The service was joined by staff from across CWPT, partner organisations, and voluntary and community organisations involved in supporting older adults and carers to shape the future of the Loxley Centre.

The space will provide:

🩵 more clinic space to assess and treat patients
🩵 more room for group work, supporting people to make connections and transition into life beyond treatment
🩵 a research clinic to contribute to national studies and advance care
🩵 a new sensory garden for patients, carers and staff

Today, we recognise and celebrate the Windrush generation and all those who came to the UK to help rebuild communities and public services. Their contribution has shaped the NHS and continues to influence the care we provide today.

We honour their legacy and give thanks to the generations who have followed in their footsteps and are part of our workforce and the communities we serve.

It’s Loneliness Awareness Week (15-21 June) 💛

This week raises awareness of loneliness and encourages stronger connections in our communities. Around 1 in 4 adults feel lonely at least some of the time, though many never talk about it.

If you don’t feel ready to reach out to a healthcare professional, you might consider connecting with a friend, family member, or neighbour you haven’t spoken to in a while. Even small moments of connection can make a difference.
