Please welcome Sam Smith to the Amethyst Centre!
Sam is one of our counsellors, and this is what she says about herself and her practice:
"
BABCP Accreditation No: 00001004572
An experienced Cognitive Behavioural Therapist supporting people experiencing anxiety disorders. These can include OCD, phobias, social anxiety, generalised anxiety, panic disorder, self-esteem and health anxiety. I also support people experiencing low mood, trauma-related difficulties, and sleep issues. I have significant experience supporting children and young people (and their families) working within NHS services.
My approach is grounded in evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) which also includes Exposure Response Prevention (ERP). I tailor therapy to individual needs and goals, recognising that no two people are the same.
It's important to me to provide a compassionate, non-judgemental space where you feel heard, understood, and supported. Together, we will make sense of your experiences and develop practical tools to help you move forward with confidence."
Her contact details are in the first comment.

I’m sharing this because I found the work genuinely valuable, and it may help someone in this community too. Without wishing to go into detail, the work Stephen did with me remotely had a greater and more profound effect than almost anything I have ever done, any therapy (I can think of only 2 that have had so much impact). I now feel that the future is brighter, more meaningful and in sharper focus than before.

I’d like to introduce Stephen Leggett of Reversing Resistance to the group.

Stephen helps people who feel stuck physically, emotionally, or mentally to identify and release hidden stress patterns that may be affecting their wellbeing, energy, clarity, relationships, or ability to move forward.

His work is particularly valuable for people experiencing things such as:

Stress, overwhelm or emotional heaviness

Feeling blocked or “stuck” in life or business

Chronic or recurring health challenges

Low energy or loss of motivation

Difficulty making progress despite doing “all the right things”

A sense that something deeper may be driving a problem

Stephen’s approach is gentle, insightful and highly personalised. He draws on over 20 years’ experience in healing and change work, blending practical insight with energetic and emotional exploration to help uncover what may be sitting beneath the surface.

Ways to work with Stephen

1. Single Healing Session – £160 (multi-session bundles available)
A focused standalone session to work on a specific issue or challenge.

2. Ongoing Programmes
For those wanting deeper or longer-term support, Stephen offers tailored programmes depending on needs and goals.

Special Offer for this community: Try a single session for £97

Who this may be for:
This may be particularly relevant if you’ve tried many things already and feel there is a missing piece.

I was once asked to hold a watch and tell the person about the owner of the watch.
"How weird" I thought. "Do people actually do this?"
The man who gave me the watch said "Just say what you are feeling, what impression you get of the owner"
So I tuned in to my feelings and told him the owner was a middle aged man, someone who enjoyed countryside and wore cord trousers and tweed jackets. Then I got a sharp pain above my right eye and I had to give him the watch back and sit down.
Apparently I was right in every respect...
The pain in my head? He died of a stroke.
This is a phenomenon known as "psychometry".
Dave will teach you how to do this on Thursday night 19th Feb, 6.30 - 8.30, or if you can already do it, how to refine your abilities. You must book using the Eventbrite link though.

To book, please visit Eventbrite and search for "Natural Self". Cost is £20 plus fees.
