Parents sometimes feel unsure about getting involved in Speech & Language Therapy sessions, however, the science says your presence is actually the ultimate secret weapon.
I am lucky enough to have spent time recently reviewing some of this research which shows that when parents actively participate in sessions, it helps children to progress 🤩
Here’s are some of the reason’s why:
* You Know Them Best: As SLTs we know the theory, but you know what makes your child tick. Together, we can tailor the goals perfectly.
* Crushing the time limit: Therapy is usually around 1 hour a week. By watching the strategies firsthand, you learn how to turn everyday routines (like hair brushing or meals) into language lessons.
💡 The Bottom Line: You don't need to be a therapist; you just need to be a partner. When parents and SLTs team up, children thrive.
Next time you head into a session pull up a chair!
