πŸ‘‹ MEET YOUR FIRST AID SUPERHERO TRAINER! πŸš‘πŸ¦Έβ€β™‚οΈ

Behind every great course is someone who truly believes in what they teach.

Keith Quinn is an accredited First Aid Trainer, but first and foremost, he is a father and husband.

As a dad to six children, ranging from his eldest daughter aged 23 to his 7-year-old twins, Keith knows just how quickly accidents can happen. Like most parents, he has dealt with bumps, cuts, falls, nosebleeds and childhood emergencies throughout his parenting journey.

Those experiences are one of the reasons he is so passionate about teaching children practical first aid skills and giving them the confidence to know what to do in an emergency.

Keith believes that first aid is a life skill that every child should learn. Knowing how to stay calm, call for help and respond appropriately in an emergency could one day make all the difference for a friend, sibling, parent or grandparent.

His passion for first aid has even inspired the next generation. His 20-year-old son is now an accredited First Aid Trainer too, continuing the family's commitment to helping others and teaching life-saving skills.

Keith, along with his wife, SinΓ©ad, a teacher, has designed the First Aid Superheroes Summer Camp specifically for children aged 7-13, making learning practical, interactive and fun.

πŸš‘ How to call for help in an emergency

❀️ Three years ago, on the very first day of the summer holidays, our family got the fright of our lives. ❀️

As she was putting the children to bed, SinΓ©ad suffered a severe asthma attack.

I was at work, and because the front door had been locked for the night, she was alone with the children. Thankfully, she managed to get her nebuliser in time, but she couldn't speak.

Our children were terrified.

One of our little twins, Annie was crying, asking her mummy if she was going to die, and SinΓ©ad couldn't even reply to comfort and reassure her.

Like many busy parents, we had never thought to teach our children how to unlock our phones or how to call for help.

But thankfully, SinΓ©ad had often told them that if anything bad ever happened, they should go to our neighbours for help.

And thankfully, our daughter Poppy Marie remembered.

Unable to unlock the front door, she climbed out of the living room window and ran to our neighbour, Eamon, asking for help.

Without hesitation, this amazing man climbed through the window, called an ambulance and, following the instructions of the ambulance service, quickly fetched the local defibrillator.

Thankfully, SinΓ©ad recovered and was taken to hospital for checks, but it was a frightening experience for all of us and a huge learning curve as parents.

Since that night, we've taught our children things we had simply never thought about before.

❀️ How to unlock our phones.
❀️ How and when to call 999.
❀️ Our full address.
❀️ Mum and Dad's full names.
❀️ How to stay calm and get help.
❀️ Basic first aid and CPR skills.

We practise these things regularly because life is unpredictable, and as working parents, we can't always be together.

Looking back, we're so grateful.

Grateful that everything turned out well.

Grateful for our incredible neighbour, Eamon.

Grateful for clever children.

And grateful for the lessons that experience taught us.

That night changed how we think about first aid.

It's one of the reasons why I became so passionate about teaching children these vital life skills.

Because one day, those skills might save the life of someone they love.

❀️ These are my reasons for learning first aid. ❀️

My children.
My wife.
My parents.

The people I love most.

Because emergencies don't send a warning.

As a father of six, I've dealt with more bumps, falls and accidents than I can count and I've learned that first aid isn't just a qualification…

It's a life skill.

It's about having the confidence to help when someone you love needs you most.

❀️ Do it for your children.
❀️ Do it for your husband, wife or partner.
❀️ Do it for your parents.
❀️ Do it for the people who mean everything to you.

At Power-Quinn Training, we believe these are skills that everyone should have and that includes our children.

WHY FIRST AID MATTERS IN YOUR WORKPLACE

Every employer has a legal and moral duty to keep their team safe. Adequate first aid provision isn’t just a requirementβ€”it’s a lifeline that can prevent minor injuries from becoming serious, and save lives.

βœ… WHAT THE LAW & GOOD PRACTICE REQUIRE

As an employer, you must ensure:

- Appropriate equipment & facilities: Well-stocked first aid kits, easy to access, and suitable for the type of work and number of employees.

- Trained first aiders: Enough people with up-to-date first aid training to cover absences and work patterns.

- Clear information: All staff know where first aid supplies are kept and who to contact in an emergency.

- Risk-based planning: Provisions are regularly reviewed and updated if your workplace changes.

πŸ’‘ REMEMBER

β€œFirst aid is not an optionβ€”it is an essential part of managing health and safety at work. Being prepared shows you value your people.”
