Supported Community Business

Supported Community Business At SCB, we help individuals grow in confidence, build real-world skills and find purpose in everyday achievements. SUPPORT A CHARITY THAT WORKS FOR YOU!

We believe everyone deserves a place to feel safe, supported and included. Our aim is to provide a therapeutic workshop facility for people in the locality with special needs / learning difficulties who wish to explore the world of work in a safe and controlled environment. Outwork is sourced from local businesses, providing real and meaningful work tasks which, through instruction and supervision

from dedicated staff, enables service users to learn basic work and life skills, gain an understanding of the world around them, interact and form friendships, grow in confidence and gain a sense of well being. The structured routine also offers parents and carers respite and the opportunity to organise their own time. If you feel you could support us, either through providing outwork or by offering support, please contact us via our website. You can also show your support through making a donation via 'JustGiving', shop through the on-line site 'The Giving Machine', or just by liking our page.

💛🖤⚽ WHAT AN INCREDIBLE DAY — £2,700 RAISED FOR SCB! ⚽🧡🖤

On 15th August, something really special happened as Crewe Town FC and Ruskin Park Football Club came together for a fantastic day of football, fun and fundraising — all in aid of Supported Community Business

The morning saw our young players take to the pitch for a children’s charity tournament, before the coaches battled it out in the afternoon! It was a brilliant day filled with smiles, laughter, teamwork and, most importantly, a wonderful community spirit. 💛🖤🧡

We are absolutely delighted and incredibly proud to announce that, between both clubs, we raised an amazing £2,700! 🎉👏

This would simply not have been possible without the incredible support we received throughout the day.

A massive thank you to every single player, parent, coach, spectator, committee member and volunteer from both clubs who gave their time, energy and support. And of course, a huge thank you to all of the vendors who came along and supported the event — your generosity helped make the day even more special. 🙏

But we want to give a HUGE, HUGE thank you to Ruskin Park FC.🧡🖤

Their fantastic idea of having players sponsored to take part in the children’s tournament made a staggering contribution towards our final total. The generosity and enthusiasm shown by everyone involved was truly incredible, and we honestly couldn't have reached this fantastic amount without you.

Most importantly, the money raised has already been donated to SCB and will be used to support their trainees and the amazing work they do. Knowing that the efforts of everyone involved will directly help make a difference to others makes the whole day even more worthwhile. 💪

Days like this remind us that football is about so much more than what happens on the pitch. It's about community, friendship, coming together and supporting those around us.

From everyone at Crewe Town FC and Ruskin Park FC — thank you. 💛🖤🧡

£2,700 raised.
Two clubs coming together.
One incredible cause.
And a whole community making a difference. 🙌⚽

🌍💚 SCB’s Spread a Smile keepsakes are going international! ✈️

We recently launched our Spread a Smile keepsakes, with the idea of hiding them for people to find and hopefully brighten someone’s day. 😊

Well… we thought we’d give one of them a bit of a head start! 🌍
We’ve taken one of our keepsakes on our travels and hidden it over 700 miles from Crewe, somewhere in a beautiful European city.

👀 Can you work out where it is from the clues? And, even better… can anyone find it? 🔎

🎾 Tennis legend Martina Navratilova was born here
🏰 It sits in the historic land of Bohemia
🌉 One of Europe’s most famous medieval bridges crosses its river
🕰️ Its famous Astronomical Clock has been keeping watch for more than 600 years
👑 One of the world’s largest castle complexes looks down over the city
🍺 And the country it calls home is rather famous for its beer!
Think you know where we’ve hidden it?

🔎 If you actually find it – take it with you!

Take our keepsake home, snap a photo and tag SCB to let us know it’s been found. Then, when you’re heading somewhere new, take it along and hide it again for somebody else to discover. 💚

Our trainees back at SCB would love to follow its journey and see just how far it can travel. Maybe another town… another country… or even another continent! ✈️🚆🚗🌍

Every time it’s found, send us a photo or tag SCB so we can show our trainees where their little travelling keepsake has reached next! 💚

🌍 And want to help us send some more on their travels?

If you’re heading somewhere further afield — whether that’s elsewhere in the UK or overseas — get in touch with SCB. You could take one of our Spread a Smile keepsakes with you and find it a hiding place on your travels!

💚 Find it. Take it. Share it. Hide it again. Spread a Smile. 🌍

Congratulations to the Cartridge People team John, Sam, Ilias and Lucy who managed 21 laps of a new longer 7.4km course at last weekend's Moel Famau 24hr Challenge.

They are looking forward to seeing if any teams can beat their new race record at this distance next year! They have raised £525 so far for Supported Community Business charity. You can still donate here if you wish to https://www.justgiving.com/page/cartridgepeople-moelfamau24

We’re hiding some special little keepsakes out and about, with one simple mission — to make someone smile! 😊

We’d love to see just how far they can travel, so if you find one, take a photo, share it on Facebook and tag us! 📸

Then the fun continues… why not hide it somewhere else for the next person to discover? 👀✨

Let’s see how many smiles we can spread and how far our little keepsakes can get! 🌍💚

🚌 A really positive step forward for disabled people across England.

We wholeheartedly welcome the announcement that free bus travel for eligible disabled people is to be extended to 24 hours a day, removing the current national restriction which generally prevents concessionary passes being used before 9.30am on weekdays.

At Supported Community Business (SCB), a Crewe-based charity supporting adults with additional support needs, we know that accessible transport is about far more than simply getting from A to B. It is about independence, choice, confidence and equal access to opportunities.

For some of our eligible trainees, the existing 9.30am restriction can make travelling independently to SCB more difficult. Removing that barrier has the potential to make journeys to our workshop more practical and comfortable, while giving people greater freedom over how and when they travel.

Our trainees come to SCB to develop skills, build confidence, form friendships and take part in meaningful real-world work. A concessionary travel scheme should help people access those opportunities rather than unintentionally place a time restriction in their way.

We are therefore delighted to see this change. Small practical barriers can have a very real impact on the everyday independence of people with disabilities, and removing one of those barriers is something worth celebrating.

👏 A policy we are very pleased to support.

The change, which has been welcomed by campaign groups, will come into effect in England from April.

⚽ LIVE FROM BRINE LEAS! ⚽

What a fantastic atmosphere here this afternoon for the Crewe Town Football Club vs Ruskin Park Football Club charity match! 🙌

It’s brilliant to see so many familiar SCB faces out supporting the day — with some even getting stuck in and running the lines! 😂👏

A great afternoon of football, community spirit and fundraising for SCB. 💙💜

A huge thank you to everyone who has come along to support — and there’s still plenty of action to come! ⚽❤️
