Every three minutes, someone in the UK is diagnosed with , with being diagnosed every 75 Seconds.

These diseases have a huge impact not only on the patient, but their loved ones who care and support them through their illness.

As eye care professionals we see patients every day suffering from these awful diseases. We are often adapting our tests to meet the needs of the patient, whilst also screening for and treating conditions in and around the eye which cancer and its treatments can cause, as well as being a familiar and friendly face to the patient and relatives in often changing and challenging situations.

For members of the practice, along with Director Peter, who is personally affected by Alzheimer’s disease, these causes remain very close to their heart. However with research, there is hope more treatments will be found, leading to longer life expectancies, improved quality of life for patients and increased support for both the patient and their family.

Outside of work, Peter trains in Tae Kwon do three times a week, winning 🄈and šŸ„‰medals in sparring competitions at yesterday’s TAGB Welsh Championship. As part of his clubs 30th anniversary celebrations, 7th Dan World Master, Miss Debbie Hill and the club members of WGS Tae kwon do will be raising money for the above great causes, firstly in a Dragon Boat race at the Sherborne Country Show and a sponsored Kick-a-thon later in the year.

If you are visiting the Sherborne County Fair, then cheer on Peter and his fellow paddlers as they race the 16 person boats across the lake. Maybe stop by the club gazebo and have a chat to the club members, you never know, could be your next hobbie!

Should you wish to support Director Peter and the Tae Kwon do clubs efforts in raising money for these wonderful causes, then please scan then QR code for the charity of your choice linking you to the Tae Kwon do clubs just giving page, or follow the links below.

Every donation, irrespective of how small or large, can help make a difference to the above charities and together we can play our part in fighting these cruel illnesses.

Thanks to and Amy Walker for giving up your evenings to discuss the latest research in management.

With up to 50% of the population being short sighted by the year 2050, to be able to reduce the progression of this in the young people of our community is rewarding.
By staying up to date with the latest research ensures we can give great care with access to the latest technology for patients, both young and old šŸ¤“
