Tomorrow I’ll experience a tiny fraction of what thousands of rabbits endure every day.
Restricted space.
No proper exercise.
No enrichment.
Nowhere to run, dig, explore or escape.
People often say their rabbit is “only shut in the hutch overnight” but dawn and dusk are when rabbits naturally become most active. Others are rarely let out at all.
I’ll be uncomfortable for eight hours.
Some rabbits spend their entire lives like this.
The difference is, at 5pm, I get to leave.
I’ll be livestreaming the entire challenge on TikTok, (jacksonsanimalrescue) so you can follow along, ask questions, and learn about rabbit welfare.
I’m doing this to raise money for our new rabbit unit and to start an uncomfortable but necessary conversation about the way rabbits are housed.
Eight hours for me. A lifetime for them.
