I am Amy and I am a qualified clinical hypnotherapist, Sleeptalk practitioner, coach and certified yoga teacher (CYT 200) offering a range of solutions that can help you cope with life's challenges - be it overcoming stress and anxiety, improving performance, taking control over a phobia, improving confidence and self esteem, changing behaviours and getting rid of unwanted habits or simply feeling

better about yourself (amongst many others).

I first experienced hypnotherapy almost ten years ago and I've not looked back since! Experiencing it from a client's perspective and realising the profound changes it had on me led me to train as a therapist. I have a great passion for helping others and it is my privilege that I can support people to instigate the changes that they would like to make in their lives. I have seen so many wonderful success stories over the years and it has been a real pleasure to be with clients as they work towards what is right and appropriate for them.

I have been working in the area of training and personal development throughout my career having originally graduated with an honours degree in psychology. I built on this with further qualifications in teaching, training, professional coaching, clinical hypnotherapy and hypnobirthing. Working as a practitioner in this area for many years across the public, private and voluntary sector, I have found hypnotherapy to be an effective way of helping people to overcome barriers that are impeding their lives. I have worked with individuals and groups across the UK, Ireland and internationally to identify the personal and/ or team outcomes that are important to them. By tapping into their own unique set of skills, resources, and capabilities, I have supported my clients with identifying and implementing the changes they want to see in their lives. My hypnotherapy practice is underpinned by life coaching, self management, neurolinguistic programming (NLP), cognitive behavioural therapy and solution focussed brief therapy principles. Essentially, this means that I work in a direct and goal focussed way: what is it you want to achieve and what is the best way for you to get there?

One of the things that I hope makes my yoga sessions a little different is that I try to offer tools that can be used off the mat.

Overwhelm is one of the things that we have been working with this week. That can be overwhelmed with some heavy stuff. But also good stuff - there might be so many things that we want to do, but because of time, ability certain things - including certain yoga poses - can feel a little out of reach.

A good starting point with overwhelm is looking to categorise the things you don’t want to do but also the things you want to do.

if you are overwhlemed about things you want to do, sometimes, it is about shifting it into a state of joy.

Top tips:

1. Shift your perspective:

Life is short so they say.... but life is also long. When we say 'life is so short', we almost introduce that sense of rushing into life. No time. No time! If you choose to take the perspective that life is long, all of a sudden this pressure valve releases. We have time to work through and navigate things. It puts things into perspective.

2. Where is the pressure coming from?

You are overwhelmed because there is a sense of pressure. So take a moment to ascertain where this is coming from. Is it coming from your boss? A family member? Or is it coming from yourself- an attribution of a false deadline for instance.

3. What can be outsourced?

How would it feel to think about how you can ask for more help. Mornings in my house for instance are chaotic - as I imagine they are in many of our houses. One of my daughters's tasks in the morning is to take the dogs out for a wee, feed them and the rest of our pets

4. What really needs to be done now?

Firstly get it out of your head and onto a page. And if you look at your list and see what needs to be done, be honest - what NEEDS to be done now. When you go through the list, you are likely to realise that many of those things do not need to be done right now. It releases that pressure valve.

5. Pose a question to yourself:

Look at your mental or written list of things you are overwhelmed about and ask this: Is it worth it? Is it worth my peace and harmony being disrupted? We want inner equilibrium... but is it worth it? And yes of course, there are times that it is worth it. Getting a report in for a deadline for instance. Or if a child is sick or going through a turbulent time. If the stakes are high, then of course it is worth a temporary disruption. But if you think about it, how many of the things that disrupt our equilibrium are actually worth it. It's probably quite laughable when you think about it how much the little things disrupt our inner world. Think about it.

We are doing this class again on Sunday evening @ 6 and 7.05PM if anyone fancies joining us.

For those who come to
My somatic classes,or are interested in somatic type work, this is a great interview to listen back to. Sadly Erica is based in Stillorgan in Dublin… otherwise I’d be booking in immediately 😹

I am delighted to share that I recently had the opportunity to chat with Clare McKenna on the Newstalk show Alive & Kicking. The interview aired on Sunday, 14th June and is now available to listen to online. 💫🌿

https://www.newstalk.com/podcasts/alive-and-kicking-with-clare-mckenna/do-emotions-and-traumas-stay-in-our-bodies

During our conversation, we spoke about the journey of White Willow, the treatments and services we offer, and the growing interest in fascia-focused treatments, which are becoming increasingly popular across Ireland.

A huge thank you to Clare and Aoife for making the experience so amazing. From the moment I stepped into the studio, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the entire experience felt relaxed. Clare and Aoife both kept me completely at ease throughout the conversation, making it easy to share my passion for the work we do at White Willow.

The outcomes and results we continue to see from fascia treatments have been phenomenal, and I would love to connect with more professionals in the health, wellness, beauty, and therapeutic industries who are interested in learning more.

I am currently offering fascia training for salons, spas, therapists, and recent graduates who would like to expand their skills, introduce a new treatment offering, or explore fascia work as part of their professional development.

It is exciting to see awareness of fascia therapy continuing to grow, and I look forward to having more opportunities to share its benefits through future talks, interviews, and educational events.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support White Willow and our mission to bring holistic, effective treatments to more people. ❤️

When I was 8, I got a pair of skates from Santy.

They were navy blue with yellow and red stripes. I loved them dearly. One of the few presents I vividly remember getting from Santy as a kid that absolutely filled my heart with pure unadulterated joy.

It was reflecting on this recently, that caused me to make a commitment to two of the most important people in my life …. My 8 year old self. And my 80 year old self!

My 8 year old self was a ‘live in the moment’ little soul. Driven by divilment and mischief and joy, those skates really advanced her mission to live by this ethos.

When I look after my 8 year old self,I feel that looking after my 80 year old self falls naturally into place.

When I’m in my more senior years, , I don’t want to look back and say that life was a pain in the ass. I want to look back and remember the frequent snapshots of joy and fun that I created and cultivated.

And so,this year I invested in a tacktastic pair of roller blades to match my tacktastic sartorial choices.

And I’ll tell you something, When I’m zipping along the coast at Cramond… that 8 year old is shrieking with glee!

And the best thing: the rest of my life just slips into place. I’m a better mum to my kids as I’m keen to enjoy this fun with them. And when I’m having more fun generally, well I’m just a nicer person to be around!

So if skates are your thing, what are you waiting for. Come look ridiculous like me 😹

SOUNDBATH QUESTION

That’s my soundbath sold out for Sunday’s summer solstice celebration. I’m keen to get another date in the diary for July.

For those who join, would you preference be a weekday evening? Or a Sunday morning soundbath?

I'm going to say something a little controversial perhaps. And I say this as someone who has invested A LOT of time and money in my healing.

I believe that a lot of the wellness industry is built around fear.

Fear that if you don't invest in yourself, you can't possibly live an amazing life. Or one of my biggest bug bears - practitioners offering a single transformational session that will fix your life (and don't get me wrong, I have experienced transformational sessions personally and have also seen many of my clients make huge transformations in their lives after a few sessions. Sometimes just one. But I think offering a one session fix that is going to transform your life, is just not fair to offer. Especially to vulnerable people who are so desperate for change).

I see so many organisations almost peddling the fear that your body is broken and constantly under attack (EDIT to say that neither are you broken, nor do you need to be fixed).

And what happens; it encourages hypervigilance. Scanning. Looking out for danger. Researching the next thing to try. Always on the hunt for the next answer.

Because there is always another protocol or methodology. Another supplement. Or approach. Another test.

When I burnt out a few years back, I spent A FORTUNE seeking answers. The why. Ways to plot a better direction forward. Some approaches were great and helped. Some were not and didn’t.

Eventually I came to the conclusion: Is this acute focus on my pain, actually healing me or is it keeping my poor old nervous system locked in survival mode.

Now, please don't get me wrong. I take supplements and herbs (quite a few of them), I practice yoga frequently in addition to my professional practice, and from time to time I go to other wellbeing professionals for one to one sessions. And I always, always start the day with breath, movement and a bit of somatic release. I know all those little things really help me.

But I also firmly and strongly believe that the nervous system, perception, current emotional state, what your reality is, how you focus your attention is way, WAAAAYYY more important than most of us appreciate.

if your healing journey is shining the light on what you are afraid of- food, mould, parasites, your environment, your body - pay attention to that .

Because I don't believe that healing should feel like living in a state of constant fear.

Sometimes the biggest shift happens when you stop obsessing over what's wrong and start reconnecting to life again.

Get out and smell the air.

Look up instead of down at your phone - it's amazing what you might see

Take a few moments to connect to yourself at the beginning of your day rather than connecting to your phone or another device

Spend time with your pets and observe how easily and readily they relax

Because therapeutic approaches are useful but only complimentary to those moment to moment snapshots that can bring so much hope, (dare I say even joy) when we choose to change our lens of perception.

⛰️ MANAGING OVERWHELM ⛰️

This week in yoga classes, it is all about managing overwhelm.

It is a topic that has come up time and time again both in my therapy room and in conversations that occur in my yoga studio.

We are going to be using simple and effective body based practices to help you really get into your body and out of your mind.

Can't wait to share classes this week which are going to be sublimely gentle but infinitely powerful.

This theme will be running all week if anyone fancies joining us. We meet:

💓 Monday @ 10.30AM, 6PM and 7.05PM

💓 Tuesday @ 5.55PM and 7PM

And

💓 Sunday @ 6PM and 7.05PM

And of course there is also yin and vinyasa, both which are inherently good for overwhelm for different reasons....

💤 Monday @ 9.25AM (Yin yoga - this week is the heart). Slow, mat based holds

🏃‍♂️ Sunday @ 5.10PM (Vinyasa). Quick, cardio based flows. Good for overwhelm and anxiety as we barely have time to think as we are moving constantly!
