Michelle Y Wakerell - Hypnotherapy for Change Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Clinical Hypnotherapist - helping you to make the changes that you want to make to live your best life!

Hello there,
My name is Michelle Wakerell and I am a qualified, registered and accredited Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Clinical Hypnotherapist. Perhaps the greatest battle we face in life is the one within ourselves, however we can win that battle......a life beyond the limitations of fear and self doubt. I have come to understand over the years that we all have amazing potential and untapped

resources within us to make the changes we want. All we need is an open mind, willingness to learn and the courage to try new ways of thinking and behaving. I am blessed to be able to both live and work from my beautiful wee “off-grid” cottage on the side of a mountain in the stunning West Highlands of Scotland. Because of this, I am able to offer therapy that is as flexible as I am, and as unique as you are. Your therapy will either be from my cottage, or out amongst the beauty that surrounds us, or a combination of the both. Alternatively you may prefer to work from the comfort of your own home online with me - many clients find this more convenient as they do not have to consider the cost or time involved in travelling - this has allowed me to work with clients from around the world. You really can live a healthier and happier life............

When did you last smell the roses?

We all live in a fast paced and "must do" world these days. We have pressure put on us by others - and put pressure on ourselves.
We have been conditioned to both think and feel that taking time out for ourselves is selfish - but it's truly not!
It's actually imperative to both our physical and psychological health to stop, take time out....and to smell the roses!

Stopping to smell the roses is an act of appreciation and recognising the source of all the goodness in our lives.
It means taking time to recognise the daily moments no matter how small, that bring us joy and happiness.
The difference in well-being, happiness and level of connectedness to other people is actually higher for those who spend time noticing and savouring these moments of joy.

When will you next relax and take time out of your busy schedule to enjoy or appreciate the beauty of life - do it very soon ❤️

Is it possible to be completely stress free?

Probably not!

In fact some stress is actually good for us and we need a healthy stress response!

A little stress might make us perform better under pressure, increase our focus, and help us meet an important deadline.

It's the chronic stress that we need to combat and prevent.

It requires conscious effort to make the time to prioritise rest, sleep and to generally slow down.

Stress is a significant factor in mental health problems including anxiety and depression.
It is also strongly linked to many physical health problems including heart disease, problems with our immune system, insomnia and digestive problems.

It is important to remember that stress is not an indication that people are weak. It is our natural reaction to spending a sustained period of time dealing with more pressure than we have the ability to deal with.

However, once we understand what is causing us stress, we can learn what steps we can take to enable us to reduce it and take back control.

Let the changes begin ❤️

Why journal?

Journaling is a tool that allows you to process complex thoughts and emotions, which helps promote positive thinking and self-talk. It can help clear your mental clutter, focus your mind, and build awareness of your thoughts and feelings.

Write in a place that's relaxing and soothing, maybe with a cup of tea. Look forward to your journaling time. And know that you're doing something good for both your mind and body.

- Try to write every day.
*Set aside a few minutes every day to write. This will help you to write in your journal regularly.
*Start the day with three things you are grateful for no matter how small (the sun rising).
*Finish the day with three "good" things that have happened, no matter how small (someone smiled at me).

- Make it easy.
*Keep a pen and paper handy at all times. Then when you want to write down your thoughts, you can. You can also keep a journal on your smartphone if you prefer.

- Write or draw whatever feels right.
*Your journal doesn't need to follow any certain structure. It's your own private place to discuss and create whatever you want to express your feelings.
Let the words and ideas flow freely. Don't worry about what other people might think - they won't see it.

- Use your journal as you see fit.
*You don't have to share your journal with anyone. If you do want to share some of your thoughts with trusted friends and loved ones, you can show them just parts of your journal.

Why not try it?
If you would like a free pdf of a daily journal to print off and use, please either comment below or just drop me a message.

Keeping a journal may enhance your life in ways you didn't imagine ❤️

Stop apologising!

Do you find yourself constantly apologising to the people in your life?

Can you recognise the statements below?

By simply reframing and changing perspective, you can begin to break the loop.
Yes, it takes time to retrain your brain, however with consistency, you can and will do it!

This shows you how to start to break the apology cycle - to respond in a new way - and to take back control ❤️

Today is National Dog Day.

Dogs can help reduce stress, anxiety, depression and encourage exercise improving your cardiovascular health.
They can also play a vital role in easing loneliness.

Caring for a dog can teach children about responsibility, compassion, trust, coping with loss, respect, loyalty and they can help build children's self-esteem, patience, and social skills.

However, most importantly, a dog can add real happiness and unconditional love to your life!

Here is a photo of my two gorgeous girls - I would love to see a photo of your beautiful dog on National Dog Day❤️

There are approximately 12 million adults that go to see their GPs with mental health problems every year - many of these related to stress.

Do you sometimes feel overwhelmed and as if you can't cope?

Do you get easily irritated and angry?

Stress and anxiety can be the result of specific physical, social or emotional circumstances or it can be a gradual build up of everyday difficulties.

For some it may be a learnt behaviour, and they can then get stuck in a continuous negative cycle of thoughts, feelings and behaviours.

But, it doesn't need to be like this!

Ask yourself what is specifically making you feel anxious?

By recording "what" and "when" in a diary, you will begin to identify the triggers and to find new healthy and effective ways of managing.

In doing this, you will be taking back control.

Nothing changes if nothing changes ❤️
