We're looking for a Laboratory Technician to join our growing team at Alvusana, based at our laboratory in Daresbury. *Ensuring samples are handled correctly from receipt through to testing
*Maintaining accurate laboratory records
*Helping deliver reliable, high-quality results for our customers

🌟 We're looking for someone who is:
* Reliable, organised and conscientious
* Self-motivated and able to work independently, while also enjoying being part of a small team
* Interested in biology, equine science, animal health or nutrition
*Keen to learn and contribute to a fast-growing biotech company

βœ… Experience:
*Previous laboratory experience is an advantage but not essential
*Experience handling horses would be beneficial but is not essential
*Full training will be provided, so we're looking for the right person rather than the perfect CV

πŸ“ The role
*Flexible working hours to fit our laboratory workflow (typically 15–25 hours per week, mainly between 9am and 5pm)
*Excellent opportunities to progress into a full-time role as the company grows.

For applicants with equine experience, there may also be opportunities to visit customers, yards and events.

Exciting news!

Our new website is now live! www.alvusana.com

Please get in touch if you would like to understand more about how we can test, track and support your horse's gut health.

Many horse owners are familiar with common digestive problems such as gastric ulcers and colic. While stomach ulcers can be diagnosed, most of the horse's digestive tract remains difficult to assess, making it challenging to detect inflammation or monitor overall gut health before clinical signs app...

Feeling very excited this week to be working at the fantastic Greenall Guerriero Racing | Racehorse Trainer in Malpas! Wonderful to get to meet some of our favourite chasers, including Iroko (second in the 2026 National) and the gorgeous Majisco who has recently come over from France 🐎

As exceptional athletes, racehorses are also prone to gut issues like many other performance horses. A proactive approach to managing gut health and good feeding management is essential for maximising performance. Josh and Oliver take great care to treat each of their horses as individuals and are very proactive about good gut health - so we are very excited to be profiling some of their horse's guts!

HELP AND VOLUNTEER HORSE SAMPLES NEEDED!

We are a new company developing a non-intrusive way to assess gut health in horses. We are specially interested in recruiting horses with the following conditions for our reference database:
β€’ Pyrexia of unknown origin (high temperature with unknown causes)
β€’ Ulcers (if you are considering having your horse scoped, or your horse has recently been diagnosed)
β€’ Colitis / enteritis
β€’ Long-term gut issues (including free faecal water, chronic diarrhoea, irritable bowel disease, recurrent colitis / enteritis).
If your horse has any of these issues, you would be happy for us to collect poo from your horse and live within a 20 mile radius of Hartford or Kelsall (Cheshire), please do drop us a message or comment on this post!
In return, we will provide you with a faecal egg count and gut profile report 😊 thank you!
