πŸ…Our absolutely wonderful receptionist Jennifer completed the Lake District Mighty Hike on Saturday.

A full marathon over hills, trails and tough terrain.

Jennifer raised money for Macmillan, an incredible charity raising funds for cancer, which unfortunately affects all of us in many different ways.

Jennifer has overcome this, and shown absolute, strength, grit and dedication, not through beating cancer & overcoming breast cancer herself, but through completing this mammoth challenge in an incredible time of 7 hours and 23 minutes, finishing 16th out of over 1750 participants!

We are absolutely in awe of you Jennifer, not for just completing this challenge, but for everything you have overcome in the last couple of years. You really are a wonder woman and we all adore you!!!!!!!!!

Today we celebrated National Social Prescribing Day with our wonderful social prescriber Sharon who also showered us with gifts (including cake!)

We are so thankful to our Social Prescribing team who are incorporated within the practice who connects our patients to community based, non-clinical support for health and wellbeing, such as loneliness, mental health and debt.

They are a credit to us and all of our patients and we thank you for the support you give every day!

Meningitis B Vaccination: Information for Our Patients

We understand that the recent news regarding Meningitis B in Kent is concerning for many families. To help clarify the current vaccination guidelines, please note the following:

1: Who receives the MenB vaccine on the NHS?
Currently, the vaccine is only routinely offered to babies at 8 weeks, 12 weeks and 1 year. This is because infants are in the highest risk category.

2. Does the school age vaccine cover strain B?
No. The vaccine given to teenagers (MenACWY) protects against four different strains, but it does not include the B strain. Most adults and teenagers in the Uk have not been vaccinated against Meningitis B.

3.Can I get the vaccine here if I'm not an infant ?
Unfortunately, no. Outside the routine childhood schedule, The NHS does not fund the MenB vaccine. If you or your family wish to receive it, you will need to contact a private provider (such as a private travel clinic or a high street pharmacy)

4. Be "Meningitis Aware"
Regardless of vaccination status, please remain vigilant. Symptoms can include high fever, headache stiff neck, light sensitivity or a rash that does not fade under a glass. If you suspect meningitis, seek emergency medical help immediately.
