A little thought for September... ๐Ÿ‚

โ€œYou don't have to see the whole path ahead to take the next step.โ€
Sometimes we wait until we know exactly where we're going before we're willing to begin.

But change rarely works like that.

Sometimes we just need to decide what the next small step looks like.

Something to reflect on as we move into a new season. ๐ŸŒฟ

What actually happens at an acupuncture appointment? ๐ŸŒฟ

If you've never had acupuncture before, you might imagine that you arrive, lie on the couch and I start putting needles in.

But there's an important part that comes first โ€” we talk.

I want to understand what has brought you to see me, but also what's happening more widely in your life and wellbeing.

We might talk about sleep, energy, digestion, stress, lifestyle and how you've been feeling generally, alongside the particular reason you've come.

I'll also usually take your pulse and have a look at your tongue. These are both part of the information I gather to help me build a fuller picture of what's going on for you.

Because I don't just see a symptom. I see the person sitting in front of me.

All of this helps me tailor your treatment to you.

And yes... eventually there will be some needles. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hello September ๐Ÿ‚

There's something about September that always feels like a little shift.

We're not quite ready to say goodbye to summer, but there are signs of autumn beginning to appear โ€” cooler mornings, slightly shorter days and that feeling of the seasons starting to change.

I actually quite like this in-between time.

It reminds me that change doesn't always have to be dramatic. Sometimes it happens gradually, almost without us noticing.

So I'm planning to enjoy the last of the summer warmth with a little break away, while also embracing everything the new season brings.

Are you hanging onto summer for as long as possible, or are you secretly looking forward to autumn? ๐Ÿ‚โ˜€๏ธ

Where could you be three months from now?

It's an interesting question.

Maybe you'd like to have more energy.

Sleep better.

Feel calmer and more able to cope with life's stresses.

Feel more comfortable in your body.

Or perhaps you simply know that something needs to change, but you're not quite sure where to start.

You don't need to have all the answers before asking for support.

My work is very much about meeting you where you are, understanding what "you" need, and creating a personalised approach to help you move towards where you'd like to be.

Sometimes that might involve acupuncture. Sometimes coaching, nutrition or lifestyle support. And often it's a combination.

If you've been thinking "I'd really like to do something about thisโ€ฆ", perhaps that's your starting point. ๐ŸŒฟ

You're always welcome to get in touch for a conversation.

Have a great bank holiday, Marie ๐Ÿ’š

I've become much more aware of what gives me energy โ€” and what takes it away.

For me, some of the simplest things make the biggest difference.

๐Ÿ’ง Drinking plenty of water
๐ŸŒฟ A jog in the countryside
โ˜€๏ธ Some quiet time in the morning
๐Ÿพ A walk on the beach with Kev and Hari

And I've also learned to notice the things that drain me โ€” too much screen time and watching too much news are definitely up there!

I don't always get the balance right, but being aware of it helps me make better choices.

Sometimes looking after our wellbeing isn't about adding more.

Sometimes it's about noticing what fills our cup... and what quietly empties it.

What gives YOU energy?

โ€œI thought acupuncture was mainly for pain?โ€

It's something I hear quite often.

And while aches, pains and tension are certainly reasons people come to see me, they're not the only reasons.

People often arrive because they're struggling with things like stress, sleep, energy, digestion or changes around their hormones.

What I find much more useful than simply focusing on one symptom is looking at the bigger picture.

๐ŸŒŸHow are you sleeping?
๐ŸŒŸHow are your energy levels?
๐ŸŒŸWhat's happening with your digestion?
๐ŸŒŸHow much stress are you carrying?
๐ŸŒŸAnd what's going on in your life at the moment?

Because we're not a collection of separate symptoms โ€” everything is connected. ๐ŸŒฟ

That's why my starting point is always "you", rather than simply the problem you've arrived with.

You don't have to change everything to change something. ๐ŸŒฑ

I think sometimes we think improving our health is much harder than it needs to be.

We decide we need to exercise every day, completely change what we eat, get eight hours' sleep, drink more water AND somehow find time to relax...
..all from Monday morning. ๐Ÿ˜„

And when we can't sustain it, we feel as though we've failed.

But lasting change often starts much more simply.

An extra glass of water.
A ten-minute walk.
Going to bed a little earlier.
Putting your phone down for half an hour.
Making space for something that makes you feel good.

Small changes count.

What's one small thing you could do for yourself this week?

What does feeling well actually mean to you? ๐ŸŒฟ

It's such a simple question, but I wonder how often we really stop and think about it.

For one person, feeling well might mean waking up with more energy.

For someone else, it could be sleeping through the night, feeling calmer, being able to move without discomfort, or simply having enough energy left at the end of the day to enjoy life.

There's no single definition of wellbeing because we're all different.

And I think that's important.

Rather than asking ourselves what we *should* be doing to be healthier, perhaps a better place to start is:

What would feeling better allow me to do, enjoy or experience that I'm missing at the moment?

P.S. I took this sunset on a trip to Somerset a few years ago โ€” one of those moments that makes you stop for a minute and just take it all in. ๐ŸŒ…

I'd love to know what feeling well means to you. ๐ŸŒฟ

Sometimes we convince ourselves that things are just the way they are.

That we'll always feel tired.
That we'll always feel stressed.
That changing our habits is too difficult.
Or that feeling better simply isn't possible for us.

But I believe people have an incredible capacity for change when they have the right conditions and support around them.

And change doesn't have to mean turning your whole life upside down.

Sometimes it starts with one small step. ๐ŸŒฟ

What's one thing you'd love to feel differently about?

Individual treatment sessions โ€” ยฃ50
Depending on your needs, your session may include:
๐ŸŒฟ Acupuncture
๐Ÿ’† Tui Na Massage
โ˜ฏ๏ธ Cupping
๐Ÿชจ Hot Stone Massage
๐ŸŒŸOr a combination of approaches, where appropriate
Any lifestyle, nutritional or wellbeing guidance that naturally forms part of your treatment is included.

๐ŸŒฑMindset Coaching โ€” ยฃ127
My coaching sessions are designed to help you explore what's getting in the way, identify meaningful changes and move forward with greater clarity and confidence. This also includes a follow-up accountability check-in.

โš–๏ธBespoke wellbeing support
Sometimes one treatment or one approach isn't what someone needs.
I also work with clients over a longer period, creating personalised programmes that can bring together acupuncture, mindset coaching, nutritional support, lifestyle guidance, movement and hands-on therapies according to their individual needs and goals.
For example, a 3-month programme combining acupuncture and coaching can start from ยฃ497, with longer 3โ€“9 month programmes tailored and priced according to the level of support needed.
I can also create individual food or movement plans and provide other bespoke wellbeing support where appropriate.

๐Ÿ’šNot sure what you need?
You don't need to know which treatment or approach is right for you before getting in touch.
We can simply start with a conversation about what's going on for you, how you'd like to feel, and what kind of support might help you get there.
Because for me, wellbeing has never been about fitting someone into a treatment.
It's about finding the right support for the person in front of me.๐ŸŒฟ
