Someone asked me today how long I’d been in practice and, without giving it much thought, I confidently said “10 years.”
Facebook has since informed me that 11 years ago today I found out I’d passed my final exams and could officially call myself a fully-qualified Osteopath.
So apparently my clinical memory is doing better than my autobiographical memory.
Looking back, it’s slightly surreal to think how much has happened in those 11 years — how much I’ve learned, how much my practice has grown, and how many different people and problems I’ve had the privilege of working with.
There are days when I feel like I must surely have seen it all by now. Then somebody walks through the door and proves me wrong.
That’s probably one of the things I still love most about this job: there is always something new to learn, something to think about differently, and something to keep you humble.
Here’s to 11 years in practice — and hopefully many more Osteo-versaries to come.
