Summer Equine bodywork sessions available at Balanced Equine ☀️

Whether you're looking to address a specific physical or behavioural point or just care and maintenance, I offer light touch bodywork that puts your horse first. No two treatments are the same as every session is tailored to and guided by the horse with a full assessment.

Under Balanced Equine, I cover myofascial release, craniosacral therapy, EFTR, stretching & mobilisation, red light therapy and, new for July, class 3B laser therapy. Using a blend of techniques, sessions aim to reduce tension and soreness, reduce any pain or inflammation, improve circulation and range of motion and address compensatory and stuck patterns.

Whether you have a competition horse or a leisure partner, please get in touch to see how I may help. All hands on treatments are gentle on the body, encouraging holistic balance and healing.

Fully insured with Everywhen, I am Daventry based and happy to travel. Please note treatments during hot weather will only be available at cooler times of day. Eye protection is provided for one handler for class 3B laser treatments.

Full sessions, around one hour, are £50 plus travel fee where applicable further afield.

Please send a message here or via 07507391865 to get in touch and book a session, or for any questions 😊

And thank you, darling Binky, for being such an excellent assistant in updating the photos of me at work!

Why use laser therapy?

Laser therapy is a fantastic addition to my services, allowing deeper pe*******on than red light alone. A non-invasive treatment, it asks nothing of the horse and is both gentle and well tolerated.

- Promotes healing by triggering cell processes
- Increases circulation
- Encourages lymphatic drainage
- Reduces pain and inflammation
- Easing stiffness
- Promotes recovery from exercise and competition (muscle soreness)

Laser therapy is beneficial in treating:

- Reducing acute and chronic pain and inflammation
- Tendon & ligament injuries, including tears, tendonitis and desmitis
- Muscle strains
- Wounds, particularly stubborn ones that struggle to heal (often due to itching, aggravation, opening them up again - and so on)
- As a post-surgery tool to accelerate healing and lessen pain
- Arthritic pain

Treatment length depends on the area being treated and can range from 5 to 30 minutes, if treating a large area such as the back or gluteals. It can be included as part of a full bodywork session (also including myofascial release, craniosacral therapy, EFTR) or arranged separately. To address a specific issue, such as a wound, a course of daily treatments is recommended.

Please message here or via 07507391865 to arrange a session or if you have any questions. Balanced Equine is based in Daventry and available weekdays, including evenings, and weekends afternoons.

April can be an interesting time of year for our equine partners. I've spoken with a fair number who are bringing horses back into full, summer levels of work after winter, which always brings varying levels of physical challenges, depending on how this is done and the individual horse. Secondly, a spell of rain followed by this lovely sunshine has, of course, shifted sugar in the grass, impacting energy levels, systemic inflammation and metabolic processes. And then you have the energy requirements of shedding the remainder of the winter coat in changeable weather conditions challenging them (especially when unclipped) when regulating their body temperature.

What I cover in equine bodywork, myofascial release, craniosacral therapy and red light therapy, works with each horse with individually tailored sessions to address restrictions and compensations before they become chronic. Whether it is highlighting the need for early intervention for a workload a little steeper than a horse is ready to handle or assisting with soreness and compensatory patterns from digestive discomfort, gentle techniques are a huge benefit in maintaining your horse's wellbeing and comfort.

Interested in a treatment for your horse? Please contact Lorna, with Balanced Equine, via messenger with any questions or to arrange a session.

I've seen several struggling with shedding their winter coats recently, along with digestive dysfunction and compensations in the body from changes in the grass. Whether you have a leisure, competition or companion horse, please get in touch if you would like a bodywork session scheduled or if you have any questions.
