๐ A Journey of Growth, Compassion and Confidence ๐
Anne applied for a Care Professional role with us in September 2025, looking for a complete change in career. Before joining our team, Anne had worked as a Nursery Nurse and Pre-School Practitioner, supporting children and their families ๐ถ๐. Although she had plenty of caring experience, she had never worked in adult social care and had not been in employment since July 2024 due to taking a break to spend time with her family ๐จโ๐ฉโ๐งโ๐ฆ.
When I first spoke to Anne and arranged her interview, it was clear how nervous she was. During the interview she was very timid and shy, and I could see that her confidence had taken a knock after being out of work for some time. However, underneath those nerves, I could also see someone who was kind, caring, patient, and genuinely wanted to make a difference to people's lives ๐.
Whilst Anne didn't have previous experience caring for older people, the transferable skills from her childcare background really shone through โจ. Her compassion, calm nature, ability to build relationships, and desire to support others stood out immediately, and I felt she had all the qualities needed to become an excellent Care Professional.
๐ฌ "After taking a break from working in a preschool, I decided to do something I had always wanted to do and become a domiciliary carer. For me, Radfield Care stood out and shared the same values as I do. I felt quite nervous at the interview but was soon put at ease by Amanda (the Recruitment Manager). I was really pleased to hear that I had been offered the job."
Following the completion of all pre-employment checks, Anne attended our two-day induction training in November 2025 ๐. She then completed 16 hours of shadowing alongside experienced Care Professionals, gaining valuable knowledge, confidence, and experience ๐ค.
๐ฌ "The training before I started was thorough, with both online courses and practical training days. Before starting my own calls, I spent some time shadowing my colleagues, which was very useful and helped me gain confidence and knowledge."
Throughout her 12-week induction period, Anne received regular support and guidance ๐ฑ. She embraced every opportunity to learn and develop, completing all training, competencies, and spot checks to a high standard.
As time went on, Anne's confidence grew with every shift ๐ช. She successfully passed her probation and achieved her Care Certificate ๐โa fantastic milestone and recognition of all her hard work and dedication.
Since then, Anne has continued to flourish and has become one of our most valued Care Professionals ๐. Her dedication was further recognised when she was awarded Employee of the Month ๐ for her incredible support to both clients and colleagues.
๐ฌ "I now find the job very rewarding and have made good connections with all our clients. I really enjoy spending time with them and being able to make a positive difference to their day. I feel I have grown in confidence since starting and continue to learn something new each day."
What makes me particularly proud is that Anne now supports new starters during their shadowing shifts ๐ค. She has become the experienced and reassuring person that she once needed herself, always willing to offer guidance, advice, and support.
Anne's journey is a wonderful example of what can be achieved when someone is given the opportunity, support, and encouragement to succeed ๐. It has been incredibly rewarding to watch her grow both personally and professionally, and I am extremely proud to have played a part in her journey.
Her Care Certificate is well deserved, but her greatest achievement is the confidence she has gained and the positive difference she now makes to the lives of our clients every single day ๐โจ.
