Did you know that continuity of care can actually save lives? 👩‍⚕️💙

Our latest “Did You Know?” poster looks at the balance between quick access to appointments and the importance of seeing the same GP over time. While same-day access is important, research continues to show that continuity with a trusted GP leads to better outcomes, improved patient satisfaction and even reduced mortality.

Take a look at Part 6: Access vs. Continuity 👇

Part 7/7

• Ask the originating service to complete it
• Seek support via PALS or another provider

Part 6/7

What are the impacts when unfunded work is redirected to General Practice?

• Inefficiencies that can delay patient care
• Time spent reviewing requests that could be completed at source
• Strained professional relationships across services
• Potential patient safety risks due to incomplete information or context
• Reduced capacity for holistic, continuity-based care

General Practice works best when roles, responsibilities, and resourcing are clear and aligned.

Part 5/7

What happens if GPs keep doing unfunded work?

Less time for patients.
More pressure on already stretched teams.
Rising stress and burnout.

It also hides the reality—creating the impression there’s spare capacity when general practice is already at breaking point.

👉 Unfunded work isn’t free—it comes at a cost to patient care.
