Good and Evil, Light, and Dark, Right and Wrong: the age-old battle for redemption of humanity.

When we remember movies such as The Lord of the rings Trilogy, Star Wars, Erin Brockovich, The Green Mile, Schindler’s list, The best of Enemies and The Devil's Advocate, it depicts the age-old battle between good and evil as a physical and energetic war of consciousness involving human heroes and villain dark forces for the salvation of humanity. Or as a moral internal battle or crisis of conscience within a community or an individual.

But the reality is the battle between Good and Evil is rarely as dramatic as a seen on the big screen and often it is in the subtle nuances that darker energies use our own shadow against us to impede our growth and consciousness which delays humanities overall development. This fight is really a battle fought on an individual and community level within our societies, and it is documented as far back as the Bible when Judas Iscariot’s own shadow was used against him to betray Jesus for 30 pieces of silver.

Darker energies want to weaken humanities cohesiveness, consciousness, and development, by keeping people divided and weakened with their focus being solely on their physical needs which are lower based energies in the bigger picture of humanities consciousness. These lower energies can be linked to the energetic themes that the root chakra works with. When the energy of the root chakra is unbalanced people can experience states such as anger, anxiety, fear, fatigue ungroundness, and a preoccupation with basic survival needs such as shelter, food, and money.

If people are working out of their lower based energies and not addressing their shadow, they are controllable and it creates a pathway for further dark energies to manipulate people, it's often so subtle the people don't realise it. Remember the film The Devil's Advocate.

Ways in which we can be controlled as individuals.

The barrage of subliminal messages online to maintain our focus primarily on the physical aspect of life which is a devoid of growth, self-development and our soul’s evolution which is the reason why we have incarnated.
Balancing energy - limit screen time, focus on growth and self-development with qualified individuals. As individuals we need to develop routines within this learning such as meditation, play and health and wellbeing practices that help to raise our energy as well as develop our consciousness.

Often energetic, spiritual and growth influencers/practitioners online and in workshops are teaching misleading concepts without integrity. They are usually focus on physical manifestation practices as a hook – money, power, houses, and cars. The motivation is rarely to impart practices in line with one’s higher self but practitioners and influencers ensuring that they get paid. They often offer training without proper learning and techniques as well as safe energetic boundaries. Participants do not receive property training or healing as well as being left in a crisis or worse off damaging other people energetically.
Balancing energy – only work with or follow trained individuals who work with the highest of integrity and who are not pushing treatments or workshops based on fear or new age language e.g. DNA activation or Soul retrieval.

With a heavier reliance today on AI, phones, Internet, and TV entertainment we are more cut off from nature and spending less time outdoors. Nature is pivotal in helping us clear, ground and strengthen our energies and our physical body. It also helps us to access the higher part of ourselves our guidance and supportive energies linked to our belief systems. Which helps us to develop and grow energetically.
Balancing energy - develop a regular practice of spending time in nature and limit phone, TV, and online activity. Work with established methods that can help develop ourselves and expand our consciousness. Walking gardening, swimming, sea -dipping, spending time in beaches, forests, and parks.

Consumption of drugs alcohol and corn etc which keeps us stuck in lower energy vibration, in cycles of self-abuse or abuse of others and we can unconsciously bring lower energies into our energy field via these activities.
Balancing energy – Limit or stop consumption, look at the patterns and the reason why we use avoidant or escapist strategies and addictions. Use professional help to understand this, work through it and replace with practices of health and well-being.

Zeal of the convert - someone who's giving up a habit or substance. They become fanatical and hypocritical of anyone that has not.
Balancing energy - focus on oneself, look at the root of the criticism, work on personal protection clearing and strengthening of one's energy. Work on personal strategies that make you feel less vulnerable and prone to relapse.

As human beings part of our greatest battle fought is shining a light on our shadow self (this can be viewed as our weak area) which we need to work through, strengthen and then integrate. The shadow can be parts of ourselves that we push down, deny, fail to see or have been told that is unacceptable by family, friends, society, and cultural norms.

Some schools of thought believe we are beings of light often incarnated into a physical body on earth to work through themes that are applicable to this lifetime. Our Shadow themes can be seen as some of this important work.

Our shadow can unconsciously play a part in the everyday decisions we make, the values we uphold, and the judgments we cast upon others.

Our Shadow can be unwanted aspects of ourselves e.g.

Anger
Jealousy
Greed
Lust
Pride
Resentment
Fear,
Shame and aggression

But it can also contain positive qualities that were suppressed such as

Creativity
Confidence
Passion
Independence

Here are a few examples of how our shadows are present in everyday life.

Creativity – perhaps we were told that we had to follow an academic career, that creativity was not fitting of our path in life or that that it was not ok. When we work through this, we can integrate our creativity, bringing a positive aspect of our shadow into our life.

Independence – as a child our independent thinking, boundary testing and disagreeing with authority was framed as disobedience or acting out therefore we learned to suppress that part of ourselves, it can also be seen in the work culture as being labelled being a team player and if your independent and bring up processes that don’t work you can be labelled a non-team player and difficult to manage. As we work through this we can find the confidence to voice our independent thinking without taking on board others opinions and actions when they try to manipulate us into conforming.

Abusive partner – abusive partners show their unresolved shadow through a variety of abuses on the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual highlighting their own unresolved shadow via control, anger, aggression, manipulation, lies and coercion by trying to control their partner and children.
This can also extend to weaponizing their innocent children, in-laws, colleagues, and friends.

Neighbours – neighbours’ behaviors often clearly display their unresolved shadow self. At times it can be greed or control where they try to encroach on a neighbour’s boundary and claim more space than theirs, especially if this is outside their own boundary line. Continued attempts to control shared public spaces such as parking once or land, or being pleasant publicly but using gossip, manipulation, or intimidation privately to work against a neighbour.

Employers - whose unresolved shadow is greed can be clearly seen as not paying a fair wage, excessive workloads, a lack of ethical conduct and a lack of concern for employers whilst resenting a positive public image.

These are only a few examples, and we can best learn about ourselves when we sit with ourselves, take stock of our thoughts and reactions and work on the areas that come up for us. This leads to more integration on an energetic level which means we are less likely to play out our shadow, as well as being manipulated to be a vessel for other forces.

Remember this is not a stick to beat yourself with but more a journey of self-discovery!

Happy May Day, it really feels like spring with the warmth these past days and nature has sprung into bloom and growth. All we need to ground ourselves with is the technique of five things you can see, four things you can touch, three things you can smell, two things you can hear and one thing you can taste.
