Ready to start something new? This gentle forest walk on Saturday is perfect for those wishing to begin. You’ll be surprised how quick 2hrs passes!
Join Nuala on Saturday 13 June 2026 from 10am to 12noon for a beautiful Wellbeing Walk around Loughermore Forest in Co. Derry.
As you arrive at Loughermore Forest, fresh woodland air welcomes you. The forest is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of modern life, offering a tranquil atmosphere. The pathways, lined with a mixture of evergreen conifers and deciduous trees, create a soothing green canopy that filters dappled sunlight onto the forest floor.
As we meander gently through the forest, we’ll pass tall stands of pines, spruce, and larch, interspersed with native trees like birch, oak, and rowan. Moss carpets much of the ground, lending a soft vibrancy to the landscape. Small streams occasionally cross your path, their babbling waters adding to the meditative soundscape.
As we walk, we’ll take time to notice the intricate details of the forest. This forest is an excellent location for practicing forest bathing (shinrin-yoku), where you immerse yourself in the sights, sounds, and smells of the woodland for relaxation and rejuvenation.
If the weather is clear, we may even catch a glimpse of the surrounding Sperrin Mountains and rolling countryside.
By the end of your walk, your body will feel refreshed and your mind clearer. The combination of gentle exercise, natural beauty, and moments of stillness creates a profound sense of wellbeing.
