Out hiking in the Sperrin Mountains last night, we stopped to watch a skylark sing its heart out and dance on the evening wind. Had thought it was a pipit at first but stand corrected 🙌

Some of the best moments on the trail are when we stop, connect, listen and let the magic of nature fill our entire being ✨💫

This rewarding circular hike offers a wonderful mix of mountain scenery, peaceful trails and a memorable climb to one of the North West’s most striking viewpoints. The final ascent is steep and the terrain can be uneven in places, making this a medium–high level hike best suited to those with a reasonable level of fitness and some hillwalking experience.

Ready to start something new? This gentle forest walk on Saturday is perfect for those wishing to begin. You’ll be surprised how quick 2hrs passes!

Join Nuala on Saturday 13 June 2026 from 10am to 12noon for a beautiful Wellbeing Walk around Loughermore Forest in Co. Derry.

As you arrive at Loughermore Forest, fresh woodland air welcomes you. The forest is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of modern life, offering a tranquil atmosphere. The pathways, lined with a mixture of evergreen conifers and deciduous trees, create a soothing green canopy that filters dappled sunlight onto the forest floor.

As we meander gently through the forest, we’ll pass tall stands of pines, spruce, and larch, interspersed with native trees like birch, oak, and rowan. Moss carpets much of the ground, lending a soft vibrancy to the landscape. Small streams occasionally cross your path, their babbling waters adding to the meditative soundscape.

As we walk, we’ll take time to notice the intricate details of the forest. This forest is an excellent location for practicing forest bathing (shinrin-yoku), where you immerse yourself in the sights, sounds, and smells of the woodland for relaxation and rejuvenation.

If the weather is clear, we may even catch a glimpse of the surrounding Sperrin Mountains and rolling countryside.

By the end of your walk, your body will feel refreshed and your mind clearer. The combination of gentle exercise, natural beauty, and moments of stillness creates a profound sense of wellbeing.

Come join me!

There will be 15 spaces and it is £10pp.

A basic level of fitness is required. Proper walking boots/shoes are mandatory.

A great route for beginners or anyone new to hiking or who is perhaps keen to get back out hiking this year.

So random lol. I heard this song for the first time yesterday and now have it on repeat. After a dip in motivation this morning, these words - this track - are most definitely lifting me up this lunchtime. And sure whats not to love about a dodgey bit of chair-dancing! Enjoy 🤩
