Fine Line Clinical is a doctor-led clinic in the north west of Ireland. Our focus is natural aesthetic treatments, with you, the patient, at the core of our practice. way. Treatments are administered by Dr. Linda Simpson, who currently works with the National Health Service. She has worked within the NHS in various roles since 2000 and was awarded a primary Undergraduate degree BSc Honours and MSc from Queens University Belfast. Following this she obtained a further degree MBchB Medicine from the University of Glasgow. At Undergraduate Medicine level she completed elective training in Anaesthetic/ Critical care and Obstetric/ Gynaecological surgery. At Postgraduate foundation level Dr. Simpson completed training in anaesthetics, renal medicine, general medicine, general surgery, obstetrics/ gynaecology, general practice (GP) and is currently working towards completion of post-graduate Obstetric and Gynaecology training. Aesthetic medicine is a growing speciality and Dr Simpson teaches her skills to other aspiring practitioners. Medical education is her passion and she ensures each and every delegate is equipped with the skills to be safe practitioner. Our ethos is to provide outstanding service for all of our patients and delegates. In an under-regulated industry, patient safety is at the core of our practice. 𝐋𝐢𝐩 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐬.

There’s a lot more to consider here than simply adding volume.

This patient naturally has a Class II dental relationship, meaning the position of her teeth influences how her lips are supported and how they sit, particularly from the side. It’s something many patients won’t even be aware of, but it matters when we’re planning treatment.

Too much product, or product placed without considering that underlying structure, could easily push the upper lip forward and actually make the profile less balanced.

So rather than chasing size, I’ve worked with her anatomy; restoring a little volume, improving definition and creating a softer, more balanced shape while still keeping her lips very much her lips.

That is probably the bit I love most about this result.

Nothing dramatic. Nothing overdone. Just really pretty lips that make sense on her.

𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐃𝐢𝐝 𝐅𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐁𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐚 𝐌𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞?

When asked by The aesthetics magazine for an article relevant to aesthetic medicine I was seeing lots of misinformation online about aesthetics, skincare and menopause and other aspects of women’s health from people with no qualifications in the subject but had high follower accounts. This can be hugely damaging for people because they have significant reach with the wrong information.

Social media has changed our industry enormously, and in many ways for the better. But somewhere along the way, I think we’ve started to blur the line between being visible and being credible.

A big following doesn’t tell you how someone manages a complication. It doesn’t tell you how much they’ve studied, how experienced they are, or what their clinical judgement is like when something doesn’t go to plan.

There is absolutely a place for social media in aesthetics. I use it every day. But it should complement clinical credibility. It should never replace it.

Our duty of care should extend to our online presence.

One of the biggest mistakes in aesthetics is treating a face as a collection of separate problems.

A cheek. A lip. A line. A fold.

But did you know? Ageing doesn’t happen in isolation….and rejuvenation shouldn’t either.

Change one part without considering what sits above it, below it and beside it, and you can actually make the face look less harmonious.

Full-face rejuvenation doesn’t mean that you treat the full face.
It means…THINKING about the full face before treating anything.

There’s something particularly satisfying about watching someone you’ve taught create work like this. 🤍

Beautiful lip enhancement by one of our Fine Line Academy delegates…restoring shape, definition and balance while keeping the lips completely believable.

The goal was never to create my style of lips on someone else’s patient. It’s to teach the anatomy, assessment, technique and judgement that allows each practitioner to develop safe, beautiful work of their own.
And this is exactly it.

I don’t think the purpose of aesthetic medicine is to erase all evidence that you’ve lived.

And ….its definitely not about returning a face to an earlier version of itself.

Sometimes…it’s simply about softening what has started to bother you, restoring a little balance, or making the reflection feel more familiar again.

These lips were treated by one of our talented delegates at the last teaching course.

We teach natural aesthetics at Fine Line Academy, and this delegate was able to create a look which softly restored volume, improved definition and created balance. All whilst keeping her lips looking entirely like her own.
