This Volunteers’ Week, we want to say a huge thank you to every one of our volunteers.

Whether you support people at hubs and events, help in our shops, make befriending calls, share your digital skills, help run our audio CD library or contribute behind the scenes, you are an incredibly important part of our team.

Our volunteers bring so much more than their time. They bring kindness, experience, encouragement, patience, humour and understanding. They help create welcoming spaces, build confidence and remind people that support is there when they need it.

Thank you for everything you do.

We want to say a huge thank you this Volunteers’ Week to all of our amazing volunteers who make everything we do across Wiltshire and Swindon possible.

Jan volunteers in our Devizes charity shop and says:
“I love chatting with customers and helping make the shop look welcoming. I can honestly say I really look forward to volunteering.”

We feel incredibly lucky to have volunteers like Jan supporting Wiltshire Sight. Whether it’s helping in our charity shops, supporting people at hubs and events, or contributing behind the scenes in countless different ways, our volunteers play such an important part in what we do.

We really would be lost without you. Thank you for the time, kindness and support you share throughout the year and for the difference you make to blind and partially sighted people across Wiltshire and Swindon.

We were delighted to hold our very first Wiltshire Sight Quiz Night in Devizes last night - and what a fantastic evening it was!

With 14 teams taking part, the event raised an amazing £550+ to support blind and partially sighted people across Wiltshire and Swindon. There was plenty of friendly competition, lots of laughs and a brilliant atmosphere throughout the evening.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, donated prizes, and helped make the evening such a success. We are especially grateful to the Devizes Conservative Club, the James Dyson Foundation, Asda Melksham, Bowood Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort, The Condado Lounge, and Next for their generous prize donations.

Congratulations also to our winning team, The Edwardians! 🏆

Thank you once again to everyone involved - we can’t wait for the next one!

We aim to bring support closer to you across our communities – no one should have to travel to the moon to get advice and support. We run 20 hubs each month across Wiltshire and Swindon, and 94% of the people we support live within 5 miles of one of our hubs.

At our hubs, you can:
• ask questions and get practical advice
• try equipment and technology that can make everyday life easier
• meet others and connect through our social groups

If you are blind or partially sighted, or are starting to lose your sight, we are here to support you. To find your nearest hub, contact Wiltshire Sight on 01380 723682 or visit our website: https://www.sightsupportwest.org.uk/events/

Meet Martha, one of our wonderful volunteers at our Devizes shop.

Martha is studying art and design and volunteers with us every Friday. She told us:
“I enjoy working with everyone and I like volunteering here. The skills I have gained are how to use the till, understanding the way a charity shop works and interacting with customers. Since being here my confidence has really increased.”

Volunteering is a great way to build confidence, learn new skills and be part of a friendly team, all while supporting Wiltshire Sight and our work across Wiltshire’s communities.

If you’ve ever thought about volunteering with us, we’d love to hear from you. You can visit our Devizes shop at 36 The Market Place, Devizes, SN10 1JG, or find out more about our shops in Salisbury and Trowbridge on our website.
