We have been thinking about our wonderful school volunteers and young relatives going back to school this week and wish them all the best for the new school year.🎒🍎🏫

Looking through school pictures and exploring objects like board rubbers and exercise books yesterday brought lots of smiles and so many wonderful stories. We found out Mary spent breaktimes playing Postman's Knock, Betty made her own school skirt in sewing lessons and Ron was proud of his marble collection. There were a lot of giggles as we also heard a few confessions of the naughty things we did as children!

Reminiscence is something everyone can get involved in and great way to support memory and language while enjoying conversation and making new friends.

☀️🏖️ Beach Party Fun at Oxford Manor! 🏖️☀️

What a fantastic afternoon we had at Oxford Manor Care Home for our Beach Party! The sunshine certainly joined in, giving us the perfect weather for an afternoon full of laughter, music and plenty of summer fun.

Our residents, families, friends and team embraced the occasion with some brilliant beach attire, games and even a little competitive sandcastle building! 🏰🌴

A huge thank you to our wonderful community DJs, who kept the feel-good music flowing and brought such a great atmosphere to the afternoon. 🎶💃🕺

And, of course, no seaside celebration would be complete without plenty of food! We enjoyed fish & chips, southern fried chicken & chips, followed by lots of ice cream and refreshing drinks. 🍟🍗🍦

The best part was seeing our residents spending time with their families, our team and members of the local community, chatting, laughing and simply enjoying being together.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the afternoon such a success. These are the moments and memories that make life at Oxford Manor so special. 💙

Our monthly Dementia Friendly Café, held on the first Saturday of every month, had some furry visitors!

Residents, families and members of our local community enjoyed meeting some adorable guinea pigs before getting up close to majestic birds of prey. These special animal encounters sparked conversations, brought back treasured memories and created moments of joy for everyone.

Of course, the afternoon wouldn't have been complete without homemade cakes, a cup of tea and plenty of friendly chat.

If you or someone you know is living with dementia, we'd love to welcome you to our next Dementia Friendly Café. Join us on the first Saturday of every month for companionship, support and meaningful experiences in a warm and welcoming environment.

🌿🍓 THROWBACK POST (Captured before the hosepipe restrictions came into effect) 🍓🌿

There is something truly special about enjoying the fruits of your own hard work.

Earlier this summer, before the hosepipe restrictions came into effect, our residents spent a wonderful afternoon in our beautiful raised gardens, carefully picking the first ripe strawberries of the season. After months of nurturing the plants, watching them grow and caring for them, it was finally time to harvest and, of course, enjoy the delicious rewards!

The smiles said it all as everyone shared the freshly picked strawberries together, reminiscing about summers spent gardening with family and enjoying the simple pleasures that nature brings.

Our raised gardens were bursting with vibrant flowers, fragrant herbs and delicious strawberries, providing the perfect setting for residents to enjoy the sunshine and connect with nature. Gardening is about so much more than planting flowers, it encourages gentle exercise, sparks meaningful conversations, promotes wellbeing and creates lasting moments of joy.

As we continue to follow the current hosepipe restrictions and do our bit to conserve water, we're looking back fondly on these special moments and the wonderful memories made in our gardens.

A huge thank you to everyone who helps keep our gardens looking so beautiful. We can't wait to see what the next harvest brings! 🌻🌼🍓

We're incredibly proud to be launching the Veteran Friendly Framework across our care homes, the first step in an exciting journey that will help us better recognise, celebrate and support veterans and their families.

The first Advinia homes to begin working towards Veteran Friendly Framework accreditation are:

Oxford Manor

Woodstock

Every veteran has a story to tell, and we're committed to making sure those stories are honoured through the personalised, compassionate care we provide every day.

This is just the beginning, and we can't wait to share our progress with you as more Advinia Care homes join the journey.

Congratulations to Gobo Theatre on another fantastic production! 🎉👏 Resident Lorraine was excited to see the show, Mirror Mirror, with Wellbeing Coordinator Kate at the weekend.

Lorraine was thoroughly entertained by the antics of the fairy tale and high school characters. With plenty of catchy tunes and laughs along the way, even the very youngest cast members, the Shoe Maker's Elves, brought the story alive. A lovely end to the night as her favourite characters, Woodsman and Magda the Wicked Step Sister, were kind enough to pose for photos📸.

There's nothing quite like live theatre and we feel so lucky to have great productions on our doorstep. Lorraine has already asked when the next production is!

🎉🎂 Happy Birthday, Shirley! 🎂🎉

It has been a pleasure to celebrate a very special birthday. 💐 Following some tasty treats and lots of visitors earlier in the week, Shirley enjoyed a private party here at Oxford Manor yesterday. It was a joyful day making memories surrounded by many generations of her loving family.
