💙 Today’s message of gratitude to yoga teachers who have inspired and supported me on my yoga journey goes to the amazing Alice McNeil at Alice McNeil Health.

🧘‍♀️ I have had the privilege of joining some of Alice’s weekend workshops at the beautiful Red Kite Centre at Lochussie and that was where I was first introduced to intuitive movement and somatic yoga and circuits.

🙏 Alice has such a depth to her knowledge of the human body and mind and so much integrity to her own practice and her teaching. I loved the way Alice opened my eyes to the potential for change through yoga in my own body and more importantly in the way we as health care professionals can support others to find that potential for change 🥰.

✨Alice taught me benefits of “feeling over form" in my yoga practice and how good it feels to be guided by how my own body feels from the inside rather than what a pose looks like on the outside.

✨ Alice also taught me not only about the importance of slow, small, and gentle movements, to retrain the nervous system but the joy and exhilaratiion of spontaneous movements and “ dancing to your favourite tune like no one is watching”.

I feel so lucky to have met you Alice and can’t wait to see what’s coming next for Alice McNeil Heath and join you on the mat again soon.
With deepest gratitude
Kate

Last night I held my last Yoga class, for now at least. I'm having a re-jig of the balls I juggle in order to get better balance, in life, in work, in energy.
So a huge THANK YOU to EVERYBODY that has come along to any of my yoga or somatics circuits classes. Your presence has been a pleasure and and appreciated more than you know.
The light in me shines so brightly to the light in you. Alice x

Love the The KITE Centre - Highland ❤️

With the sucess of our local community outdoor wellness events at Lochussie last year, for 2026 we 'd like to initiate two new regular meet ups with the hope of bringing together our local community by gathering in nature on a more regular basis:
-
The first is 'Rise & Grind Knockfarrel' inspired our friends over at ... The idea is that we hold a regular brew-on-a-hill meet up at 07:30am every Tuesday morning on top of Knockfarrel Hillfort. Bring a flask (or stove). Arrive by foot or bike. Watch the sun come up. Have a blether. Get back in time to start your day. No cost. No need to book. Just a bit of motivation to start at least one day of the week really well with some fresh air knowing at least someone else will always be there to share it. Everyone welcome.
-
Second, we'll be holding a monthly Outdoor Fire Circle up at the K.I.T.E Centre, Lochussie at 8pm on a Friday night towards the end of each month. Just for the joy of sharing some firelight with others in a way that feels like it's a lost but essential part of being human... We'll pass a talking stick so you can share your thoughts but equally there's no pressure to speak at all. Again, no cost. No need to book. There'll be shelter on rainy nights. We'll aim for regularity but may have to switch the odd Friday around.
-
We all know how watching a sunrise or sitting around a fire with friends can support our mental and physical health, however, even with this knowledge, we seldom make the time to do it. With these initiatives we really hope to create an ongoing and self-sustaining community of likeminded folk who can apply that little nudge needed for more of us to get out and feel these benefits more regularly in a way that's accessible to all.
-
We'll kick things off by publishing meetups on social media but hope that soon enough these things will take on a life of their own.
-
So who'd be keen in the Strathpeffer, Dingwall, Black Isle & Inverness areas??

Sunday 22nd Feb 2026- “Emerging from winter” Join us on this half day retreat at The K.I.T.E. Centre as we celebrate the movement from the darkness of winter, towards the brightness of Spring.

It’s this time of year when we start to connect again to the world around us, to nature and to each other. We start to notice the possibilities as we start to gently unfurl from 'hibernation.'

This practice will bring space and balance into the body and mind, supporting us to move from 'wintering' into the new life around us that is starting to emerge (or at least thinking about it!) In the first session, expect guided meditation, pranayama (breathing practice), asana (movement/posture practice).

Then we break for tea and a tasty treat.

In the second half we will explore somatic movements, helping us to reacquaint ourselves with body and mind. We will finish with a guided relaxation to consolidate and assimilate the practices of the day.

Can't wait to welcome you!

Thanks,
Alice

Feeling tight, stiff and achey? Curious about how mindfulness may help you to live with more ease? This is what this hour long session is all about.

Yin yoga is physically chilled, we're mainly lying or sitting on the mat. But in such a way to add spaciousness to the body. These stretches allow certain soft tissues such as fascia to ‘stretch’ resulting in reduction of tight spots and better joint health.

Positions gently held for 3-5minutes, creating the ideal opportunity to explore concepts of mindfulness. These ideas, such as ‘letting go’, ‘curiosity’, 'patience’ are fostered and practised on the yoga mat, but really translate off the mat too. Furthermore, using the sensations in the body as an anchor, it is an opportunity to explore our connection with our body and our mind. This in turn allows is to respond to situations mindfully, rather than just reacting; it also allows a deeper understanding of our body, which really helps when preventing or managing injury, discomfort and recovery.

This type of yoga is especially useful for the over 30’s; athletes who have pushed their bodies a lot over the years and those who would like to meditate or give it a go but don’t like the thought of long periods of sitting…

Please bring a mat if you have one, a cushion and a blanket (there will be limited mats available to borrow :-)

Sessions held at our peaceful space at Lochussie, just near Dingwall, the .highland

Link to book in bio.

Thanks,
Alice
