Another heat wave has hit the UK
This week temperatures are estimated to hit up to 34 degrees (Wednesday)
Our studio is a listed building and although we get in early and whack the fans on full blast, we have zero air con and around midday the sun likes to hit us full blast through big shop windows.
So here’s our survival tips for your appointments this week:
🔥 HYDRATE. We cannot emphasise this enough- bring hydrating liquids with you (Mel bigs up the coconut water) and sadly energy drinks don’t count (much to Meg’s sadness)
🔥 EAT BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT. You might not feel hungry, but having energy is super important for your tattoo session. We also encourage bringing snacks with you (but please nothing crumbly or flakey)
🔥 WEAR LOOSE COMFY CLOTHES. Your comfort is key- and as long as we can get to the area wear whatever will keep you cool in the studio.
🔥 TELL US if you start to feel funny during your session. Adrenaline and heat are a nasty combo and can make you take a turn. We’ve seen it all, and if you need a break let your artist know. Trust us, we get it.
🔥 SHOWERS AND ANTIPERSPIRANT. Sounds silly, but please. Leave the BO at home.
🔥 THE SUN IS A DEADLY LASER. We remind you that we cannot tattoo over sunburn and that the Sun is horrible and not a friend to fresh tattoos. You cannot put SPF on your tattoo for at least two weeks or until it is healed. Please keep your skin safe in the lead up to your appointment and keep your new tattoo out of the Sun!
🔥 FUN POLICE INCOMING- you can still shower with your new tattoo, but no swimming (river, sea or pool) for at least two weeks while it is healing.
If for whatever reason, you struggle due to medications in the heat, please let us know in advance and we can reschedule your appointment. We want you to be comfortable and have fun at your appointment and please don’t push yourself for the sake of a tattoo.
If you have any further questions, PM your artist directly or message the shop.
