I work a lot with people with mental health issues including Dementia. Why not try reflexology , helps stress and anxiety too . 👣👣

September is .

Alzheimer’s disease (pronounced “alz-HAI-mirs”) is a brain condition that causes a progressive decline in memory, thinking, learning and organizing skills. It eventually affects a person’s ability to carry out basic daily activities. Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most common cause of dementia.

This month, and every month, we work hard to change the future for women and Alzheimer’s disease.

We also recognize that women are at the epicenter of the global Alzheimer’s epidemic and believe that cutting edge research on women’s brains is necessary to change the course of the disease. We raise money for critical women-based research and instigate the creation of women-based initiatives at leading scientific institutions, universities, foundations and organizations. We partner with leading researchers and non-profit organizations that share our vision and hope to create women’s Alzheimer’s research funds that finance high potential, gender-based scientific investigations. We are aggressively seeking answers to the question: Why are women disproportionately affected by Alzheimer’s and related dementias? Answering that question requires a sharp focus on what is particular to women’s biology, genetics, and lifestyle.

Two people can visit a reflexologist with exactly the same concern, yet receive quite different treatments.

**Why?**

Because reflexology is about more than focusing on one symptom.

A qualified reflexologist considers the **whole person**:
👣 How are you sleeping?
👣 How stressed are you?
👣 Where are you experiencing discomfort?
👣 How is your mobility?
👣 How are you feeling emotionally?
👣 What does your body seem to need today?

We can then adapt the treatment, spending more time on particular reflexes or using different reflexology techniques according to what we observe and what the client needs.

Many reflexologists also have additional qualifications that can complement their reflexology treatments.

In my own practice, after more than 25 years, I can work on foot, hand, facial and ear reflexology, Neuro Reflexology, Foot Mobilisation and Reiki.

I may combine Neuro Reflexology with foot reflexology, gently mobilise an area of the foot that needs attention, or spend additional time working particular reflexes.

Reiki is also naturally present throughout my treatments.

Another experienced reflexologist may have completely different additional skills — and that's one of the beautiful things about our profession.

There isn't a standard treatment for a standard person.

💚 Because there is no such thing as a standard person.

If you're a fellow reflexologist and this reflects the way you work too, please feel welcome to share this post and help more people understand just how personalised professional reflexology can be. 👣💚

🍂👣 Hello September! 🍂👣

As summer begins to give way to autumn, September often brings a return to routines, busier diaries and a change of pace.

It can also be a lovely time to remember the importance of making space for ourselves.

Reflexology offers an opportunity to slow down, relax and enjoy some dedicated time for wellbeing – whether you are returning to work, getting the children back to school, or simply adjusting to the changing season.

Why not make September the month you put a little time aside for you?

And for our reflexologists, the start of a new season is a wonderful opportunity to remind clients that looking after their wellbeing doesn't have to be complicated – sometimes it simply begins with taking time to stop.

Wishing all our members, reflexologists, students, friends and followers a happy and healthy September. 🍁

REFLEXOLOGY RESEARCH FRIDAY! This week we are spotlighting a very recent single-blind randomized controlled trial study being published in Acta Psychologica's September 2026 edition. It looks into foot reflexology's short-term effects on pain, anxiety and physiological response levels in women dealing with shoulder and neck pain. It found that with just one session, the participants' pain, heart rate, anxiety and additional symptoms were reduced while their calmness and comfort emotions increased. Read the full study here: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0001691826014149?via%3Dihub

🔬 NEW REFLEXOLOGY RESEARCH | 2026

New research published in Pain Management Nursing has explored the effect of foot reflexology on neuropathic pain in women with Type 2 diabetes.

The randomized controlled trial included 65 women with Type 2 diabetes and neuropathic pain. The intervention group received routine treatment alongside foot reflexology, while the control group received routine treatment alone.

Participants receiving reflexology completed 12 sessions over six weeks.

What did the researchers find?

After the six-week treatment period, the women who received reflexology reported significantly less nerve pain than those receiving routine care alone. The researchers measured pain in three different recognised ways, and all three showed improvement.

The researchers also reported reductions in neuropathic symptoms including burning, tingling, numbness and itching. No intervention-related adverse events were reported.

The authors concluded that foot reflexology may be a valuable complementary addition to routine care for neuropathic pain in people with diabetes.

Research such as this is an important contribution to the growing evidence base for reflexology profession.

REFLEXOLOGY RESEARCH FRIDAYS! Today, we are focusing on a study that shows how foot reflexology from a practitioner and self-help exercises can help those suffering from MS dealing with restless legs syndrome and sleep quality symptoms. Published less than a month ago, you can find the study at https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/42466006. It is wonderful to see the increase in reflexology research to confirm what we as practitioners see/experience in our own practices with our clients.
