A few weeks ago, the Stride team swapped desks for football boots as we took part in the Doncaster Chamber of Commerce Corporate Cup.

Going into the tournament, confidence was high and we were talking a good game. However, we were quickly pulled back down to reality when our goal tally may not have quite lived up to those expectations….

Still, the day served as a valuable reminder that taking part is what really matters. Admittedly, that perspective was a little harder to embrace while we were on the pitch… 🤣

Although our performance was poor, our clothes however were brilliant…. with a huge thanks to Christopher Clay for getting us kitted out and representing Stride in style! 😎

In all seriousness, we had a fantastic day. It was great to share a few laughs, meet new people, and catch up with other local businesses.

At Stride, we've placed a real emphasis on sport and community involvement this year through our sponsorship of Sheffield Eagles RLFC, Haxey Cricket Club, and the Scawthorpe Scorpions JFC Under-11 Girls team.

Whether you're neurodivergent or not, exercise plays a vital role in both physical and mental wellbeing. It's one of the best ways to build meaningful connections, strengthen communities, and create lasting friendships.

We're also working on something exciting in this space that we'll be sharing very soon, so keep your eyes peeled. 👀

Harry's Photo Club – 15th May

Sandal Park was the destination for this month's "disaster", as our photographers headed out to put their skills to the test and capture some great shots around the park. 📸🌳

Everyone enjoyed spending time outdoors and exploring the variety of scenery the park had to offer. From beautiful natural landscapes and wildlife to creative close-up shots, there were plenty of opportunities to experiment with different photography techniques.

The session gave members a chance to develop their skills, share ideas with one another, and build confidence behind the camera. As always, it was great to see the creativity and unique perspectives that each photographer brought to the group. We look forward to seeing what everyone captures on our next photo club outing! 📷✨

Stride are over the moon to announce our place as finalists in this years Pride in Diversity awards as 'Diverse Yorkshire Company of the Year'.

We don't just support neurodiversity; we live diversity, breathe it, and embrace it, through our incredible staff members, and clients alike.

We are very proud to be recognised as a finalist in such a prestigious award.

Thanks for your support as always,

This is Luke.

Last Friday, Luke attended photography club, run by Harry. He travelled there independently, catching two buses something that this time last year would have felt like a pipe dream.

Luke has shown what can be achieved through consistent effort towards long-term goals. When he first started with Stride support two years ago, he wasn’t leaving the house, struggled to manage his medication, and wasn’t sure what direction he wanted his life to take.

During his sessions, Luke identified a passion for cooking. He enjoyed working with Ed to plan different dishes, shop for ingredients, and cook meals at home.

Since then, Luke has volunteered at the Hub in Auckley, learning what it means to work as part of a team in a kitchen, guided and supported by Paige. He used grading principles brilliantly starting with coach Ed supporting him in the kitchen for one hour at a time, and progressing to cycling there twice a week for a full day on his own.

Luke has now taken his passion even further and is excited to start a culinary course at Doncaster College in September. We are all incredibly proud of his achievements.

Alongside this, Luke has enjoyed engaging in Stride’s social events. He first attended badminton, where he made friends with Harry. He now also attends the Club Impact gym, cycling there independently and meeting up with other Stride clients to work on his physical fitness.

Luke has also developed a passion for running alongside his gym routine and has managed to lose five stone in a year an amazing achievement.

Finally, Luke has pushed himself out of his comfort zone by starting driving lessons, something he admitted was a fear he needed to overcome.

Luke has demonstrated what consistent effort over time can achieve. As a very modest individual, this isn’t something Luke would usually shout about but we want to show the world just how proud we are of him.

For many neurodivergent adults, finding the right workplace can feel overwhelming. At Stride, we believe the issue is not a lack of talent. It is a lack of understanding, opportunity and the right support.

On the 8th of May, the Wombles were out at Sandle Beat Woods once again, helping to clean up the commentary area and surrounding woodland paths. 🌿🧹

A huge thank you to everyone involved for giving up their time to help keep the area clean, welcoming, and enjoyable for the whole community. Every bit of litter picked makes a difference! 💚
