A lovely little client recently sent me the sweetest video before her appointment.
Sitting on the sofa talking straight to camera:
“Mr Jack does one ear… it hurts… but then it stops hurting… and then he does the second one.”
She’d clearly listened carefully to everything Mum and I had talked about beforehand ❤️
One thing I always explain to parents is that ear piercing does hurt. Most children cry. That’s completely normal. The important thing is that the pain stops almost immediately afterwards.
I also explain that there’s no pressure.
After the first ear this little superstar decided she didn’t want the second one done after all. She was upset, disappointed and very unsure.
So I told her exactly what I tell every child in that situation:
“That’s okay. Go away, have a think, and if you decide later that you’d like the second one done, I’ll fit you back in.”
A little while later… back she came 💪
And this time she walked out with two beautiful earrings and a very proud smile.
This is one of the reasons my minimum age is 7. Not because every 7-year-old is automatically ready, but because I want children to understand what’s happening and feel involved in the decision.
No rushing.
No pressure.
No “just hold her still”.
Just honesty, patience and letting children find their courage in their own time ✨
PiercerJack is in Dunsville. Appointment-only so it’s peaceful and private. Piercings are £26 each (both lobes £52). Most days I’ve got spaces free.
