s🩺❄️ Is Your Winter Medicine Cabinet Ready?
As the colder months approach, now is the perfect time to give your medicine cabinet a little winter check!
Having a few everyday essentials at home can help you manage minor illnesses and feel prepared when those winter coughs, colds and sniffles arrive.
🌡️ A digital thermometer – Useful for checking a raised temperature.
💊 Paracetamol or ibuprofen – For managing aches, pains and fever, where suitable for you.
💧Decongestants such as Saline nasal spray – To help relieve a blocked or stuffy nose.
🍬Throat Lozenges - May help soothe sore throats (check age restrictions for children)
🩹 Basic first aid supplies – Plasters, dressings and antiseptic products for minor cuts and scrapes.
💊Indigestion treatments - Handy for soothing occasional heartburn, acid reflux and indigestion.
💧Oral Re-hydration Salts - Help replace essential fluids lost through diarrhoea or vomitting.
💚 A little winter medicine cabinet housekeeping:
✔️ Check expiry dates.
✔️ Store medicines safely and out of children’s reach.
✔️ Make sure you have any regular prescribed medication you need.
✔️Seek medical advice if you’re unsure which medicines are suitable for you.
And remember, not every winter illness needs antibiotics. Most coughs and colds are caused by viruses and will improve with time and supportive care.
Do seek medical advice for symptoms that are worsening or not improving and urgent help for serious symptoms such as breathing difficulties.
