Taking some time to softly settle.
Swapping my European winter wonderland for sunny Sydney days 🌞
I've been quietly easing myself into the transition, having quiet days at home and a lot of relaxing family time. The jet lag is still lingering, and the quick transition from winter to summer has left me feeling depleted at times. So gently does it, as I get used to the change.
I'm super excited to see more family and friends in the coming weeks, more beaches, more hikes, and to reconnect with the yoga community here πŸ’™

Pressing pause on my Iberian adventure to take a deep dive into the wisdom of Yoni Shakti well woman yoga in gloomy London πŸ™Œ

While I'm missing the feeling of winter sun on my skin, the Mediterranean sea washing through my hair, the views of the snow capped sierras, the smell of frankincense in the streets of Seville and the sounds of Spanish all around me (I swear, I'm getting closer to getting it!), I'm so excited to be expanding myself in this way.

I also want to say a big thank you to the teachers whose amazing offerings have really inspired me on this path, Lara and Carly 🧑

I have been epically quiet on here, even for me. As many of you know I'm not into social media. But as a quick update, I've traded the calming Surrey Hills for a Europe trip. I left the UK a few weeks ago and I'm not sure if/ when I'll be back.
I live for travel. I've been yearning for this for years and so far it's been the best time!
I've been through Belgium, Germany and now Zurich. Camping and getting back into natural rhythms has been so amazing and I've spent some time with some really good friends in Germany and now Zurich. For me, this is what life is about 🧑
If you're in Instagram, I might be more active there over the next few months if you want to a some travel updates... or I might just ditch social media completely 😜

"wilderness is a ferocious intoxication which sweeps over your senses with rinsing vitality, leaving you stripped to the vivid, your senses rubbed until they shine. It is an untouched place which touches you deeply and its aftermath - when landscape becomes innerscape - leaves you elated, awed and changed utterly." - Jay Griffiths

I am super excited to announce the first of my Yoga Medicine Walks ❀️

This is an offering that I have been working on for a long time and is, first of all, a celebration of nature. It is an opportunity to connect with nature, let it sweep over your senses and leave you feeling renewed, refreshed and able to see the magic and medicine all around you.

We have inner cyclical patterns that reflect those in nature. Utilising various energy practices, including pranayama and yoga, we will explore our inner wild landscape and see that reflected in our outer world.

The first event is on Sunday 15 May. We will meet at Otford (in Kent) train station and take a walk around the exquisite Darent Valley - one of South East England's gems, and wander a section of the North Downs Way.

For a full event description, click into the events on my page, or visit https://www.eventbrite.com/e/yoga-medicine-walk-tickets-329775947737

I'm looking forward to creating some magic with you ❀️

Discover peace, healing and build your connection to nature in some of South East England's most stunning landscapes.

I'm back from a lovely few days healing in Glastonbury.
What a magical place - like a Savannah with the Tor rising dramatically up from the earth. It was quiet in town, and there was a rejuvinating vibe in the stillness. The sunsets were spectacular, and I was lucky to meet some very interesting people. Sometimes you arrive in a place where you feel you can be fully authentic.
With my chalice freshly full of healing waters, I'm excited to get back to class tomorrow morning!
Until next time, Avalon 🧑

Sound up to hear the Tawny 😍

What a spectacular full moon last night in Surrey. Sometimes you need to take a moment to soak up the magic.

I had a lovely Paddy's Day/Spring Equinox class planned for today in Peaslake which I was disappointed to have to cancel as I'm recovering from Covid. But I'm feeling very lucky to have such lovely moonlight and sunlight to bathe in. A great chance for me to practice acceptance and surrender 🧑

Hopefully classes are back to normal next week and a few more exciting things happening in the next few weeks.

Do you work with Mudras?

I love using Mudras in my yoga and meditation practice. Mudras are hand gestures and it is believed that they impart a certain energy on the body and mind. Mudras have been used for thousands of years in many different traditions.

Every mudra has a particular purpose and moves energy through the body in a specific way. To truly understand a mudra, I like to work with it over a period of time.

This is Tambula mudra and it is symbolic of seeds sprouting during the spring. It is believed that each finger represents an element. The thumb is fire and the index finger is air. Air feeds fire which creates the energy for physical, mental and emotional growth.

We will be exploring Tambula mudra further this month in my hatha yoga classes at Peaslake Village Hall. Send me a message if you'd like to know more πŸ™‚ 🧑

I have a logo!
Firstly, thank you to the gorgeously talented for capturing my thoughts in this lovely image 🧑

The colours are inspired by a Surrey sunrise. They are soft and calming yet warming and there is a strength developing there.

And why have I chosen the blackbird as my name? There are many reasons!

I love their character. They are serene and their song is magical, yet sometimes you can catch them being completely silly!

Blackbirds are often seen in pairs, and I liked the idea of having two to represent community and the duality of masculine and feminine in all of us.

They are liminal creatures, most active at the transition times of the day. In Irish shamanism, the blackbird is associated with the Otherworld, and its song enables the shaman to travel through spiritual realms.

I also use the blackbird as a symbol of mindfulness after something my amazing meditation teacher said. When you see a blackbird hop into your garden, your mind often gets caught up in all your thoughts and associations about blackbirds. Then, the blackbird flies away. How much of the blackbird have you actually witnessed?

Luckily for us there are so many of these lovely creatures hoping around so we all have several reminders a day to be mindful of the moment! 🧑

Hatha yoga classes starting this Saturday at Peaslake!

As the first signs of Spring emerge, we will be exploring expanding out into the world, while ensuring that we stay stable and grounded.

This class is suitable for all levels of experience, even if you haven't moved in a while. We will begin by checking in with our bodies before flowing through a sequence to loosen up and holding a few poses for longer to build strength and warmth.

Please get in touch if you have any questions or would like to book on, I would love to chat with you.

This week's class will be held at the Old School Room, opposite the Village Hall, from next week classes will commence at the Village Hall.

I look forward to welcoming you in class❀️
