We’re proud to welcome Evie Lakes as West-Gate Clinic’s latest sponsored athlete.

Evie is a rising star in the boxing world, recently crowned Junior Cadet U46kg National Champion and selected for the England Boxing Development Squad. A huge achievement that reflects years of graft, discipline, and determination in and out of the ring.

Balancing intense training with recovery is a big part of her journey, and staying injury-free is key as she continues to push to the next level.

Evie said:
“I really appreciate the support from Westgate Clinic. I do a lot of training and having regular sports massages helps me stay injury free and prepares me for my upcoming fights.”

We’re excited to support Evie as she steps into this next stage of her boxing career and continues chasing big goals in the ring. 🥊

Hands up if you need a sports massage 🙌

Sports massage isn’t just for athletes - it’s for gym sessions that hit harder than expected, stiff backs, tight hips, heavy legs and headaches that start in your shoulders.

Move better. Recover better. Feel like a functioning human again 🤝

Ankle Strength 🦶

Check out our physiotherapist Joe’s favourite ankle strengthening exercises.

Super simple to perform, all you need is a step and a resistance band but very effective for strengthening your ankles in all directions.

Banded inversions

Isometric soleus holds

Banded single leg RDLs (great for stability and balance)

Banded eversions

Strong ankles are important for running, jumping, changing direction and everyday movement. They can also help improve balance, stability and confidence following previous ankle injuries.

If you struggle with recurring ankle sprains, instability or pain during exercise, strengthening work like this can make a big difference over time.

Ankle Strength 👣

Small improvements in ankle strength can make a big difference to how stable and confident you feel when moving. Your ankles are your foundation every time you walk, run, squat or change direction, so even subtle changes in strength and control can have a real impact on how your whole body feels.

Whether that’s walking down the high street, getting back into training, or preparing for your next HYROX, better ankle stability can help you move more efficiently and with less strain elsewhere in the body.

Keep an eye on our feed - we’ll be sharing some of our favourite exercises for improving ankle strength and stability soon.

Is your shoulder stuck? 🤕

If you’re struggling with a stiff and painful shoulder that’s difficult to move, and you’re not sure what you’ve done, you may be suffering from frozen shoulder a.k.a adhesive capsulitis.

It’s an incredibly frustrating condition that needs careful management, and getting the right diagnosis is key - because not all shoulder pain is frozen shoulder, and treating it incorrectly can slow your recovery down.

If you’re struggling with shoulder pain, have noticed a loss of strength, or are finding everyday tasks like getting dressed nearly impossible, it might be time for an assessment.

Get in touch to find out how we can support you on your journey through frozen shoulder.

With spring in full swing and more people getting outside, we’ve been busy with Footscan appointments 🌱

Our foot scanner gives a detailed picture of how your feet are moving - not just standing still, but through real movement like walking, running or squatting.

From there, we look at what’s actually going to help. That usually starts with simple exercise advice, and where needed, we can look at options like insoles to support things further.

Whether you’re deep into race prep or just getting back into walking and hiking, understanding how your feet move can make a big difference. Small changes can improve comfort, reduce injury risk and keep you moving well.

Don't let your feet let you down this spring 🌻
