Would you try a levodopa inhaler to manage Parkinson’s “off” periods?
NHS Scotland is deciding whether to make levodopa inhalers available for people who are experiencing “off” periods (when Parkinson’s medicines stop working).
Inbrija is a form of powdered levodopa. It’s loaded into an inhaler device a bit like those used by people with asthma. It typically works more quickly than taking another Parkinson’s tablet, and may be more convenient than an apomorphine injection.
Published research suggests it could be a useful tool in the box for treating some people with Parkinson’s.
But we want to know what you think of the idea…
Would you be interested in trying a levodopa inhaler to manage off periods? Why?
Please tell us below, message us, or email Tanith at [email protected] to tell us what you think!
Please note that Inbreja is not yet approved for use in Scotland. If it is approved, it may not be the best treatment for any individual. You should always discuss this with your Parkinson’s team.
