Getting back into exercise sounds simple in theory đ§
But in reality?
Life gets busy. Work, kids, stress, injury, poor sleep⌠and suddenly weeks or months have passed.
Then you try to jump back into where you used to be.
You used to run 10km⌠so you aim for 5km.
You used to lift heavier weights⌠so you go straight back there.
And sometimes it works⌠briefly. Then the niggles start; hip pain, pelvic heaviness, recovery taking days, exhaustion instead of enjoyment...
One of the biggest mindset shifts is realising you do not need to start where you left off; you just need to start somewhere.
Small, consistent steps will always beat going too hard and burning out.
Iâve written a full blog on returning to exercise after injury, including:
the biggest mistakes I see
how to rebuild confidence in your body
when pain is okay to work through
and how to return to movement without overthinking it
