Bennett Fit Physiotherapy

Bennett Fit Physiotherapy I have recently opened a physiotherapy clinic from my home just outside Stenton.

I specialise in Female Pelvic Health and Sports Injuries after a long career in the British Army and the private sector in the Middle East.

One of the biggest things I see after injury, postnatal recovery, or pelvic health symptoms is not just pain.

It is loss of confidence in the body 😭

Confidence in movement. Confidence in exercise. Confidence in knowing what feels safe.

And often, rebuilding that confidence is just as important as rebuilding strength.

Because getting back to movement is not about “bouncing back.”

It is about rebuilding trust in your body again, one step at a time.

This surprises a lot of people. When something hurts, the automatic reaction is often:
👉 “I should stop completely.”

But in many cases, physiotherapy is not about avoiding movement.

It is about learning:

💪 what is safe to push
💪 what needs modifying
💪 and how to rebuild properly

Progress does not always mean zero pain. It means things are improving over time.

That is a very different thing.

If you are feeling stuck between wanting to move more and worrying about making things worse, that is often where physiotherapy can really help.

👉 Book an appointment online and let’s work out a plan that helps you move forward with more confidence and less fear around pain.

One of the biggest mistakes I see is people trying to restart exercise from where they used to be rather than where they are now.

That usually ends in - frustration, pain, loss of motivation or stopping altogether

Your body does not need punishment to improve!

It needs the right support.

Sometimes that means:

👍 understanding what pain is actually telling you
👍 rebuilding confidence in movement
👍 adapting training properly
👍 or simply having a clear, realistic plan to follow

If you are stuck in that cycle of starting, stopping, and feeling unsure what your body can handle anymore, physiotherapy can help.

👉 Appointments can now be booked online - if you are ready to get back to movement in a way that actually works for your body, I’d be very happy to help.

Getting back into exercise sounds simple in theory 🧐

But in reality?

Life gets busy. Work, kids, stress, injury, poor sleep… and suddenly weeks or months have passed.

Then you try to jump back into where you used to be.

You used to run 10km… so you aim for 5km.
You used to lift heavier weights… so you go straight back there.

And sometimes it works… briefly. Then the niggles start; hip pain, pelvic heaviness, recovery taking days, exhaustion instead of enjoyment...

One of the biggest mindset shifts is realising you do not need to start where you left off; you just need to start somewhere.

Small, consistent steps will always beat going too hard and burning out.

I’ve written a full blog on returning to exercise after injury, including:

the biggest mistakes I see
how to rebuild confidence in your body
when pain is okay to work through
and how to return to movement without overthinking it

A small update… but one that should make things a lot easier.

You can now book your physiotherapy appointments online!

No back and forth, no waiting - just a simple way to find a time that works for you and get booked in.

If something’s been niggling, or you’ve been meaning to sort it but haven’t quite got round to it, this makes it that bit easier to take the first step.

As always, appointments are still built around you understanding what’s going on, giving you a clear plan, and helping you move forward with confidence.

You can book via the link in bio.

The treatment option most women are never told about

A pessary is a small medical silicone device used to support the pelvic organs and reduce symptoms of prolapse.

Simple. Practical. Often incredibly helpful.

A pessary may help with:

😳 heaviness or dragging
😳 pressure during the day
😳 leaking with exercise
😳 return to running or lifting
😳 postnatal support
😳 confidence in movement again

They come in different shapes and sizes because pelvic health is personal.

And no, one size fits all does not apply here.

For many women, the biggest reaction is:

“Why did nobody tell me this existed?”

If prolapse symptoms are affecting your life, there may be more options than you think - head to the blog to read more, book an appointment or drop me a DM - I'm here to chat.

It’s not always the symptoms… sometimes it’s fear 😳

A huge reason women delay getting support for prolapse is fear.

Fear of what it might be.
Fear of hearing the word prolapse.
Fear that their body has failed.
Fear that it means surgery.
Fear that exercise is over.

I hear it time and time again.

Often symptoms come and go in the beginning. There are good days and bad days. The week before a period may feel worse, then things settle again.

So many women hope it will disappear and put off getting it checked. But a diagnosis is not the end of the story. It is the beginning of understanding what is going on and what can help.

Prolapse does not mean your body has failed.

It means your body needs support, believe me I've been there! Head to the blog to read more, make an appointment or drop me a DM - I'm here to help!

Prolapse is not just something that happens later in life...

One of the biggest myths I hear in clinic is that prolapse only affects older women.

It doesn’t.

I see women in their 30s. I see active women. I see women who have never had children.

Yes, pregnancy and birth can be factors, but they are not the only reasons prolapse happens.

Other risk factors can include:

➡️ chronic coughing
➡️ constipation and straining
➡️ carrying excess weight
➡️ repetitive heavy lifting
➡️ poor breathing and bracing strategies
➡️ pressure management over time

If you have symptoms like heaviness, dragging, pressure or leaking, please do not dismiss them because you think you are “too young” or “not the right type of person” for prolapse.

Your symptoms are valid, and support is available. Read my latest blog post on the website for more info, and remember my inbox is always open!
