This is where we hope to gain more information, map and identify all the Public Access Defibrillators site's in Dundee (PADS Dundee). The long term goal is to have a system in place with agreement to the owner(s) or donor(s) of the Defibrillators that are public accessible to have them mapped on the many platforms that map them, and have them registered as a PAD with the Scottish Ambulance Service

. Also a future goal would be to have a guardian type system where someone would "look at" the AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) make sure its still there and there is no chirping or issues with the AED and the battery symbol is ok. If any issues would be to highlight it to PADS Dundee who hold information of owners and we can get in touch about the issue(s) PADS Dundee would also hold important information about the AED like expiry dates of batteries and the shock pads so near six month expiry date we can highlight this to the owners - many are installed and left and forgotten aboug and sometimes not always rescue ready. PADS Dundee would also like to get in the bear future a group where these could be maintained monthly - checked over and wiped down and cabinet inside dusted down. If you see a PAD in Dundee take a picture, location, postcode normally written on the cabinet door (what three words is good to use too) and if it has 24/7 availability or of its in a shop what are the opening times and post a picture here so we can build a very clear and precise map of what PADs are there.

We feel we need to address a post. Pictured below, Its a old post from around 2022. It's been going round alot recently. It's about asking your smart device for help of how to do CPR when someone goes into sudden cardiac arrest.

We suggest that you call 999 and follow their guidance on CPR

Not all smart devices give best advice and may give inflicting advice as they don't know the exact emergency.

I know my Alexa doesn't give you instructions.

Did you know women are less likely to receive defibrillation following a cardiac arrest, and that the main reason behind public fear is that they don't feel comfortable removing a bra?!
This charity is doing some amazing work to help demystify the fear:

Educating men and women on the importance of using a defibrillator safely and to encourage them to remove the bra in an emergency to increase the chances of survival.

A fantastic addition to the PAD (Public Access Defibrillator) already around Dundee. Well done to Dundee First Aid Training for such a fantastic donation.

We are absolutely delighted to say that the FREE defibrillator giveaway we ran late last year has now been ordered and will be fitted to the pavillion at Charlotte Street, Dundee the home of Dundee West FC ASAP.

This will be a massive benefit to not only the sports teams participating at Charlotte Street during training sessions and matches but also to the nearby local community should a defibrillator ever be needed in a medical emergency.

James and I are fully committed to making Dundee a safer place for us to live by offering this living saving equipment FREE of charge and and by providing regular FREE course giveaways to the people of Dundee.

We are here to help you help others ❤️

After the incident involving a player from Monifieth Athletic FC at the weekend during a Chamber Practice Dundee Saturday Morning Football League we want to go even further and offer more FREE training over the coming months.

There has been a significant increase in accidental calls to 999 following an Android update that triggers an SOS when a button on the side of your phone is pressed 5 times.

🔵 If you do accidentally dial 999, please don’t hang up. If possible, stay on the line and let us know you're safe.

🔵 Calls to 999 where the operator can't hear anyone on the line (silent calls) are never ignored.

🔵 If you dial 999 and can't speak, please follow the instruction of our service advisers, who are specially trained to help in these situations.

🔵 If a crime is in progress or there is an immediate risk to a person or property, always dial 999.

🔵 You can check your emergency dial settings on most Android phones by going to Settings and looking for SOS settings in the options.

Please help us keep our lines clear by only using 999 in an emergency.
